Uniting Early Learning Westmead
Uniting Early Learning Westmead Centre overview
New and inclusive community
Uniting Early Learning Westmead has been welcoming children from birth to 5 years since 2021. On Darug land and close to the Westmead Health Precinct, our long day care centre offers engaging and inclusive early education and preschool programs. We understand that sometimes families may need a little extra support, which is why we’re open even during school holidays.
Our commitment to diversity
Our educators value the diverse cultures of our local community and are committed to creating a warm and safe learning space, making every child feel valued and respected. We’re co-located with Uniting Westmead Residential Aged Care, meaning your child has the opportunity to foster intergenerational relationships through social interactions like story time and Tai Chi meditation with our residents.
Nurturing every stage of development
With 3 separate spaces for babies, toddlers and preschoolers, our educators meaningfully contribute to your child’s learning experiences by encouraging their communication, physical development, and social and emotional skills. Through our tailored approach and structured activities such as our Bush Kindy program and shared morning tea, we foster the curiosity of preschoolers, building their sense of independence.
Natural and stimulating learning spaces
We know how important these early years are, which is why we encourage your child to freely explore their creativity and self-expression. This could take them from participating in our outdoor yarning circle, becoming an aspiring artist in our art studio, learning to garden with one of our aged care residents, or caring for our village chickens.
Our early learning centre will provide your child with the tools to make the transition to ‘big school’ easy on them and you.

Our family has been part of this wonderful Uniting Community for 12 months. We chose this ELC for its amazing facilities, large space, shared values about learning and inclusion, as well as the collaborative approach with the aged care section of the village. Upon meeting the Director, Katrina, I was most impressed with her overall passion for early learning and for the children, as well as dedication to the staff. Over the time we have spent here, Katrina has been so proactive and responsive in assisting us with any enquiries we have had, also providing a warm welcome on pick up. Our son has loved the Nursery and the beautiful staff there, making strong connections with the educators. We can see that he was provided with engaging and stimulating activities, and it was very apparent that the staff were well in tune with his personality and his interests, and supported him accordingly. We have always had great communication. We are only leaving due to relocation, needing our son to be closer to home. Very sad to leave this lovely place, would absolutely recommend! Read more

I’m writing to complain the center director Katrina and the centres service. We had paid deposit a few months earlier to secure the spot and I was determined to send my son to a better social environment and unfortunately we were sorely disappointed and hurt. My son didn’t like to go to that Centre after a month there, I had to withdraw him, Because my son was sick he couldn't attend the care on the last day of school. I got no notice but got charged $550.67. I called and I emailed to tell them to help me to get this money back and received no response, it’s not fair because if I was informed regarding the policy (stating my son had to be there on the last day of school) i would have taken him for just 10 minutes to the centre if i knew it would save me $550. 67. I would have tried my best to pull my son there. I finally got Katrina answered my phone, she said it’s Centrelink policy, I said ok I hope your Centre can adjust the policy in future to give poor parents a call to remind them to come on the last day as 20 minutes would save their lives. She said they are very busy and that I’m so rude by saying that. I said you don’t care about parents money, then she hung up the phone. She is really rude and cold hearted to me, and I don’t believe this careless person will provide good service to other parents and families. Please be cautious sending your children to this branch of Uniting. They do not value your money, feelings, time or child’s wellbeing. I would not have withdrawn my son if he was happy there.
