Billy Button Early Learning - Now Open! Centre overview
Welcome to Billy Button Early Learning Centre!
Billy Button Early Learning is a family-owned Childcare Centre, that is committed to nurturing the development of children by providing them an environment that will allow their full potential to flourish.
Our service is located at 366 McDonalds Road, opposite Westfield and next to the new Pipe Track Park, in the heart of South Morang. Our Centre is named after the “Billy Button”, a bright, joyful yellow daisy that is indigenous to the local community.
Our foundation is built on three main core values: Discovery, Connection and Respect. Through a highly qualified team of educators, our play-based curriculum nurtures children to form a strong sense of identity, that strengthens their social and emotional skills.
A home away from home, our families are ensured a child-safe environment where their children will thrive.
“Children are not the people of tomorrow, but people today. They are entitled to be taken seriously. They have a right to be treated by adults with tenderness and respect, as equals. They should be allowed to grow into whoever they were meant to be – the unknown person inside each of them is the hope for the future”.
Janusz Korczak.
Our Programs
Our curriculum at Billy Button Early Learning is derived from the National and Victorian Standards which incorporates the five learning outcomes: Identity, Community, Wellbeing, Learning and Communication. All our children’s development is documented on a digital platform called Storypark so that it is available at your fingertips!
- Long Day Care - Our service is for children from the ages of 6 weeks old to 6 years old.
- Kindergarten Program - Our 3-year-old program and 4-year-old program has Highly Qualified registered Early Childhood Teachers with years of experience working with children. They are passionate about school readiness and will work with each family to ensure their child is ready for Primary School.
- Before & After School Care - Our service offers care for school age children with an available bus service to take them to and from school. This allows families flexibility with ONLY one drop off and pick up required during their busy schedules.
- Vacation Care - Billy Button has School Holiday programs for Primary school aged children. Programs will be available for enrolment four weeks prior to school holidays.
In addition, we offer the following programs:
Community Connections Program - Billy Button Early Learning has a strong sense of community and nature which will continue through experiences such as community walks, teddy bear picnics at the neighbouring Pipe Track Park, Bush walks/explorations and lots more!
Dance/ music program - Dance and music give children an opportunity to express themselves in a different language that brings out creativity and imagination. Our program in dance and music is open ended and delivered within our fortnightly programs which will build into an end of year celebration concert. Different cultures, instruments and musical genres are considered in the program as we introduce all forms of music and dance to the children.
Sports program - Billy Button Early Learning has partnered with Little Sports Heroes to run the Sports program on a weekly basis. We aim to deliver a four-stage program designed to focus on increasing the level of knowledge and difficulty as the children progress. Your child’s development both mentally and physically is important to us. We believe that through active participation in a systematic approach to the basics, your children will have every opportunity to learn a variety of new skills whilst having fun. To find out more please see the Little Sports Heroes booklet attached with further information around the four-term program. (Link attached with booklet)
Buddy Program - Here at Billy Button Early Learning, we believe that children are capable and competent learners. That through peer-to-peer interactions, they can gain insights that would otherwise be missed. Our Buddy program has been created to allow for sibling interactions as well as integration between the different age groups across the service. The purpose of this is to encourage social and emotional development in all ages through empathy and respect. This is a highly successful program that brings forth confidence and acceptance in each child’s identity as they continue to find themselves.
Garden to Kitchen Program - The Garden to Kitchen program has been developed to teach children where food comes from and how it gets to our table every day. They will learn how to connect with nature through our vegetable garden and composting system as they assist in the care towards the environment. It will encourage healthy eating habits as we introduce them to food preparation and cooking opportunities with our very own Master Chef!
Parent Program - Our Parent Program is made up of a set of sessions that will give families in the community an opportunity to connect, learn and socialize together. Attached to this is our mother’s group, father’s group, and special persons group that will meet at our very own on-site Café once a month. More information to follow.

About the curriculum
About the curriculum
At Billy Button Early Learning Centre, the rooms have been specifically designed to bring nature and a sense of home together to create an enjoyable, happy place where children can live, laugh, and learn. The rooms have been constructed in a way to meet children’s developmental milestones.
Sugar Glider
6 weeks to 15 months old
Infants at this age are just starting out in their development as they work towards building their basic gross motor and fine motor skills. Multi-sensory development with a ‘sense of touch’ is important to creating those special bonds between infant and carer. Each child’s routine is catered for in collaboration with their families to provide a safe and consistent environment.
Fantail
12 months to 2 years old
Children at this age are moving from being infants into becoming toddlers. They begin to build more on their gross and fine motor skills, communication becomes more vocal, and their social interactions form more cooperative play.
Fairy Wren
2 years to 3 years old
Toddlers are at one of the most important ages for emotional development. This is when they are processing many emotions whilst they are learning about other people’s feelings. The educators work with each child through their emotions and develop strategies with them as they learn how to express themselves verbally.
Growling Grass Frog
2.5 years to 3.5 years old
As toddlers continue to grow, they will develop their verbal skills by using short sentences to communicate. They become more independent with their basic needs and wants as they work towards toilet training, dressing themselves, learning social interactions with peers and more.
King Parrot
3 years to 4 years old
This is the age where the children will become more interested in playing and making friends with other children. Imagination comes out more as they explore different dramatic play opportunities that are created by their current interests. The educators will encourage each child’s imagination to extend their ideas, as they interact with them in group sessions and one on one.
Blue-tongued Lizard
4 years to 6 years old
This is a critical time for children as they work towards preparing themselves to enter the next stage of their schooling. School readiness is a priority at the centre, and the team of educators plan holistic programs to produce structured routines and flexible learning environments that extend on verbal communication, fine and gross motor skills, social interactions and more.

Billy Button Early Learning Centre values their team of educators as a critical part of operations. The educators spend their days building strong relationships, developing programs, and caring for the needs of the children. Each educator is handpicked through an in-depth recruitment process that covers culture fit, experience in early childhood and passion for children. The educators are open to learning and ready for continuous professional development.
Managing Director, Robyn Khoury, brings to Billy Button Early Learning a drive and passion for high-quality childcare and outcomes for children. A mother of five, she understands the importance of family and how a nurturing environment allows children to thrive.
Robyn has been in the education industry for over 15 years and has had the privilege to work in various settings including early childhood, primary and secondary schools as well as special education. This diversity in experience allows her to be creative as a childcare operator and find innovative ways to achieve exceptional outcomes for children in her care. Her success has always been built on strong values that guarantee collaborative partnerships with families and the local community.
The core values, Discovery, Connection and Respect form the foundation of Billy Button Early Learning. These values were chosen because Robyn believes that through Discovery children become capable and competent learners, that Connection allows collaborative relationships with families and communities, and Respect is about teaching children to have regard for the feelings, wishes, and rights of others which builds their social and emotional development. Robyn, with a highly qualified and passionate team beside her, will ensure Billy Button Early Learning is a second home for children.
Health & nutrition
Health & nutrition
At Billy Button Early Learning, the team believes that children gain a healthy mind and body through exercise and the types of foods they eat. A nutritional menu has been specifically designed, to cater for each child’s needs taking into consideration any dietary requirements, religious requirements, and medical conditions.
The children enjoy mealtimes as opportunities to interact in a family setting whilst they learn the value of healthy eating, having their peers and educators role model good eating habits. The centre’s café offers a great opportunity for families to meet and greet, hold parent groups and more.
