The Professor Lynn Corcoran Early Learning Centre: Froebel Parkville is a not-for-profit early learning centre with an integrated funded Kindergarten Program, located in the heart of the biomedical precinct in Parkville, next to the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, just a few minutes' walk from the nearly finished Parkville Train Station. Our centre caters for 100 children aged 3 months to 5 years of age and stretches over 5 levels which have been architecturally designed.
Our educational program focusses on:
- inquiry-based learning with our Little Scientists program. This program will ignite your child's natural curiosity and encourage them to explore the world surrounding them. Part of our STEM learning program is implemented during excursions for all our age-groups to the local surrounds and beyond – we are so lucky to have beautiful parks and markets nearby.
- immersive language learning program with German as a second community language. Being exposed to more languages will be a boost to your child's cognitive development. A number of our educators are German speakers and speak in German to all children throughout the day. We also celebrate traditions from German-speaking countries such as our annual lantern walk, alongside Australian events and traditions from our diverse community.
- holistic approach to sustainability that extends across environmental, community, and personal domains. We believe that nurturing environmentally conscious practices, fostering a strong sense of community, and supporting individual well-being are all interconnected and essential for long-term impact. Through daily routines, intentional teaching, and meaningful projects, children are empowered to care for their environment, contribute to their communities, and develop lifelong skills to support their own health and wellbeing.

About the Curriculum
About the Curriculum
At Froebel Parkville, we implement an inquiry-based curriculum that empowers children to explore, investigate, and learn through their natural curiosity and interests. Our educators and teachers play a vital role in guiding this process by thoughtfully scaffolding learning experiences to extend children’s thinking and development.
We place a strong emphasis on individualised learning. Each child has their own Individual Learning Plan (ILP), which reflects their strengths, interests, and learning goals. These ILPs are used to inform the room’s program and ensure that every child’s learning journey is meaningful and tailored to their unique needs.
Our curriculum is a collaborative effort. Children, families, and educators all contribute to shaping the learning environment by sharing their thoughts, ideas, and cultural perspectives. This inclusive approach helps us create a dynamic, respectful, and engaging curriculum that supports children to thrive as confident, capable, and curious learners.
Meet the team
Meet the team
Our educator-to-children ratios are:
• 1:5 for the Nursery
• 1:5 for the Toddlers
• 1:11 for our Kindergarten Rooms
All our educators share their passion and love for their profession and take the responsibility for your children very seriously. We are proud to have qualified and experienced Early Childhood Teachers (Bachelor in Early Childhood Education and Care) and a large number of Early Childhood Educators (Certificate III and Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care) on board - more than required by regulations.
At Froebel, we celebrate all cultural and language backgrounds, and this is reflected in our community and team. Whilst our centre and team language is English and we promote English and German as part of our immersive early learning program various other languages are spoken by members of our team. Our educators will also incorporate experiences such as stories, songs, celebrations etc. from their own cultures into our program to share them with our children.
Kindergarten/Preschool Programs
Kindergarten/Preschool Programs
Froebel Parkville offers an integrated Kindergartenprogram focussing on preparing your child for formal schooling, helping them develop their social and emotional skills, independence and self-esteem as well as communication skills needed to thrive at school.
What are the benefits of a Kindergarten program integrated into a long daycare setting:
- Your child will be able to attend our Kindergarten program during normal daycare hours (7:30am to 6pm)
- Our centre doesn't have term breaks (we are only closed on national Public Holidays and for a one-week closing period at the end of the year)
- All meals are provided and made freshly by our amazing centre chef (save the lunchbox packing for later ;-))
- Add casual extra days for your flexibility (subject to availability)
- See your child’s learning and development in their individual learning plan
- You will be able to claim Childcare Subsidy as usual in our Kindergarten rooms
- We are an approved provider of a funded Kindergarten program – families nominating Froebel to deliver the funded program for their child will benefit from lower fees and the additional so called ‘free Kinder’ funding of up to $2101 per child and year which will go towards your fees as weekly pro-rata credits on top of your family's CCS payments

Google Review from May 2025:
"We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Froebel Parkville. From nursery through to toddler and kinder classes, the centre has consistently exceeded our expectations in every way.
The teachers are absolutely fantastic – nurturing, attentive, and genuinely passionate about early childhood education. They take the time to get to know each child individually, helping them feel safe, supported and confident. It’s clear they love what they do, and it shows in how happy and engaged the children are every day.
The facilities are exceptional – bright, clean, and beautifully designed to spark curiosity and creativity. The outdoor spaces are thoughtfully planned, offering plenty of opportunities for active play and exploration. Everything is purposefully arranged to support learning through play in a warm, welcoming environment.
A special thank you as well to the administrative team, who are always organised, friendly, and communicative. From supporting the family for onboarding to everyday logistics, they’ve made the process seamless for families and are always happy to help with any questions or concerns.
We’ve seen our children grow so much in confidence, language, social skills, and independence – and we credit that to the incredible team at Froebel Parkville. It’s a truly special place, and we feel so fortunate to be part of this caring and inspiring community. Highly recommended!"

Froebel Parkville has truly exceeded my expectations, providing an enriching and joyful environment for my daughter to thrive. The centre is like a home away from home for our daughter and the educators like a second family. All staff at the centre- from the educators, to Tahlia, Cara and everyone else- are exceptional in providing a nurturing and supportive environment and the attention to detail, care, and love that everyone at the centre shows on a daily basis is something so rare. We feel so very lucky to have our daughter attend such a special place. The centre itself is beautiful, and offers a diverse range of activities that blend learning with fun, whilst ensuring a stimulating and safe space for kids (and the food that Carla makes is to die for!). The educators (special mention to the Toddler Room) have assisted in allowing our daughter to grow and flourish into a curious, engaged and independent little person, who looks forward to attending each day. I am so grateful for the positive impact that Froebel has had on her growth and happiness and could not recommend it enough. Read more

Froebel Parkville has been a fun, progressive and engaging environment for our children over the last 5 years. Our children's key educators have always been diligent, attentive and very understanding of their needs. We have always felt the utmost confidence in the center's care for our children's physical safety and emotional wellbeing and growth. The curriculum is extraordinary with strong focus shared between physical activities, arts, cultural awareness and inclusivity, and STEM based learning. Our two children have absolutely loved their time here. And we as parents, have loved the care their educators, and the amazingly diligent Director, have imparted on our children every day. We could not recommend this center highly enough. Thank you. Paul and Jess Read more
