What the parents say
What the parents say
I would recommend West Ryde Long Day Care to any of my friends or family. My son previously attended a different day care and the comparison between the two is chalk and cheese, he is so much happier now. The staff are wonderfully responsive and interactive. They develop genuine relationships with the children and are easy, and even fun, to talk to.
The centre is well-equipped with dedicated rooms for different age groups and has a large, well-facilitated outdoor space with lots of activities for the children. The centre uses an app to keep the parents up-to-date and has an on-location chef who manages to get my son to eat whatever is put in front of him (even vegetables!).
If you’re after a family-feeling day care but with the facilities and activities of a large day care, I would recommend West Ryde Long Day Care.

West Ryde Long Day Care has provided a tremendously positive experience for our whole family. After a change in plan left me looking for a last minute spot, WRLDC were able to offer a spot to my 9 month old son and from the first day I was confident that he would be well cared for. I would strongly recommend this day care to anyone looking for a caring, fun, and personal environment for their child.

My family is very happy that we chose West Ryde Long Day Care for our daughter. Thank you so much for the values and memories our daughter has gained during her time here. Special thanks to the “great Chef” of the centre. He has ignited the taste buds of our daughter that would be hard for me to match.

I really cannot recommend this child care centre enough. I’ve been through a few childcare experiences, this being my third child, and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made. It really does feel like a family, the educators are so amazing they care for the children like they are their own. The staff are all so amazing and always make you feel welcome and supported! My son is the happiest he’s ever been and I can truly say a massive part of that is from the awesome people he is surrounded by at West Ryde Long Day Care.

Centre philosophy
Centre philosophy
The centre aims to help children grow to their full potential in an environment that is supportive and nurturing.
Learning
Our play based curriculum embraces the concept of “Belonging, Being, and Becoming” (EYLF), a child initiated, adult facilitated program. We support children to learn through active exploration and interactions with their peers, educators, and the environment.
Partnerships
We strive for a culture of mutual trust and open communication with our families. We build strong connections with our wider community, in particular schools within our local area.
Environment
Our centre provides a calm, stable, welcoming environment. We have wide, open spaces that encourage the children to explore and discover on their own terms.
Community
We recognise that our community is a socially diverse and multicultural society. As a centre we recognise and value this diversity.
Sustainability
We take an active role as a community to do our part in caring for our environment and contributing to a sustainable future.
Our Team
We value a team approach, where all educators are respected and encouraged to work together in a supportive environment. We encourage professional development and reflective practices within our centre.
About the curriculum
About the curriculum
6 weeks - 2 years
With an open and flexible approach, the educators make the most of the indoor and outdoor space, allowing the children to explore and play at their own pace.
2 years - 3 years
Up to 15 children per day are cared for by three main educators in the jungle room. They have created an energetic and inviting learning environment, in which children explore their interests and learning is strengthened and supported by the educators. The children enjoy flexible routines that allow for consistency with family routines, large blocks of time for play and learning, and children’s choice and direction on experiences throughout the day.
3 year - 4 years
The star room has up to 20 children per day with two main educators. The children in this room are the creators of their own play, with a curiosity for learning and understanding why, this room allows children to initiate and explore their interests and knowledge through play and set learning.
4 years - 5 years
This classroom caters for up to 20 children per day with two main educators to guide them. These children are independent learners with a curiosity for learning, experimenting and problem-solving through creativity and exploration. This helps to prepare the children for their formal years of schooling.
Health & nutrition
Health & nutrition
The menu at West Ryde Long Day Care Centre was developed in accordance with the government’s healthy eating guidelines for children. They support the Munch and Move program and develop their menus alongside this.
The educators aim to role model healthy eating and activity throughout the day to all children and families. They aim to promote good nutrition and healthy food habits and attitudes to all, and to support and provide for children with food allergies, dietary requirements or restrictions, and specific cultural or religious practices.
The children are offered cereal for breakfast; fruit, cheese, yoghurt and muffins for morning tea; veggie-packed pasta and casseroles for lunch; sandwiches for afternoon tea; and scrolls, wraps or banana bread for a late snack.

We had a terrible experience with this Childcare - our child was asked to leave, we asked about inclusion support funding and we where told there is no such thing for our child, simply we had to leave the centre. They didn't want to help or travel with us through the process, it was simply easier to get rid of the kid. To be honest, the educators are good, it was management that was the issue. When we left the centre, we were able to access the support funding for my child, with help from other childcare providers it. just would have been nice for WRLDCC not to kick out a child due to disability and instead give help or direction on how to access the support that is out there, (even without a diagnosis) instead they abruptly kicked him out. [Regarding the reply from the Day Care's management, this is exactly the kind of response I would expect, amiable, affable and professional, but written in a way that essentially covers the backs of the centre and places blame onto the families, a response where the history has been rewritten] Read more
Hi Justin, I'm sorry to hear your experience at West Ryde Long Day Care. We appreciate your feedback and take it seriously. Let me address your concerns: Inclusion Support Program is offered at all our centres and after checking with our team, it appears that we had several meetings with you back in 2019 to help provide support to your child. During those discussions, we explained that a diagnosis showing your child’s additional needs was necessary to access the Inclusion Support. Unfortunately, it seems your family chose not to proceed with this option. We deeply regret any impression that we wanted your family to leave our centre. Our priority is always the well-being of every child. If there was any miscommunication or misunderstanding, we apologise. We value your feedback and encourage open dialogue. If you would like to discuss this further or have any additional feedback, please feel free to contact me directly on 02 9487 5174 or admin@eikoh.nsw.edu.au Kind regards, Romain Administrator
