The experienced team at this large centre in Fairfield are happy to offer longer hours compared to other centres in the area. The educators work closely with local schools, taking preschool children on excursions to visit to help with the transition to formal education. There is also an interactive smartboard, similar to that used by schools which will help provide a smooth transition to school.

The educators focus on creating a warm and welcoming learning environment with positive feelings of safety, love and attentive care. Educators provide an individualised curriculum to support and encourage a positive learning outcome for each child. 

The educators have formed a strong relationship with parents, working closely to ensure all children’s needs are attended to. The centre has a low turnover of staff, and their Nominated Supervisor has been at the centre since it opened in 2016. 

I believe that children’s safety and happiness comes first, which in this service really shines these beliefs.

I believe that a manager should also lead the team by example and work alongside educators to support and guide all staff.

Healthy eating is a huge focus for the centre, with all food cooked fresh daily from a four week multicultural rotating menu.  The centre is affiliated with the NSW government’s Munch & Move initiative which promotes movement and healthy eating for children.

There’s cereal for breakfast; lots of fresh fruit, yoghurt and toasties for morning tea; spaghetti bolognaise, chicken cacciatore, or butter chicken for lunch; freshly cut veggie sticks and sandwiches, crackers and dips for afternoon tea; and a late snack if required before pick up time. The centre’s meats are halal based from a halal certified butcher. 

At meal times the educators eat with the children and discuss the foods and the importance of healthy eating. The preschool aged children and encouraged to self-serve under the supervision of educators who also role model appropriate social etiquette. The children also help to clean their own dishes after each meal. The children wait for all their friends to be seated with their lunch prior to eating.
