Our Program and Curriculum
Our program covers from Infants all the way to Preschoolers who are getting ready for school. These include day-to-day structured experiences, as well as extra curriculum such as Sports, Early Literacy, Mandarin, Art, Music, and Show and Tell. Alongside these fun learning experiences, we allow children to make their own choices about what they want to play, where they want to be, and how to take their own responsibilities to accept boundaries and respect others in a group environment.
We strongly believe that School Readiness is not all about Numbers and Letters, but also about being emotionally ready and getting used to a stable routine. We hope that on their first day of Kindergarten, they will say, “I don’t want to go back to Butterflies anymore!”
Partnership with Families
We have encouraged families’ involvement since day one via multiple platforms. The more our families are involved, the safer our children will feel, hence the more sense of belonging they will have to this local community.
We listen to their concerns and take them into consideration when making decisions.
Dental Health, Sun Safety, Bees and Honey incursions were all contributed by our own brilliant parents.
Staffing
The best way to provide high-quality care and education is to ensure our educators have enough resources to plan thoroughly. With an experienced leadership team who started as classroom educators, and know exactly what is beneficial for the children. Butterflies provides each room with 1 day a week of off-the-floor programming time for educators to reflect, plan, and update individual portfolios. We believe that it is essential for them to conduct ongoing professional development.

I'd like to nominate Rose who is always behind the scenes and may not get the spotlight that often despite definitely deserving it! Rose is an incredibly caring educator and centre Director who is dedicated to every single child and teacher. Thank you Rose for everything you do-we see you and are so grateful for the wonderful impact you have on our son's life and that of many others!

Thank you Gio. Grateful for the smiles you bring to the kids' faces. Even after a long day, they come home full of joy and wonderful memories of the day they spent at Butterflies. It is your care and dedication that have helped our kids grow. Because of you, they get a chance of becoming better people. You are a treasured pillar to our society and community.

Thank you to Kaye and all the team at Butterflies. As a first time mum, being able to do 7 orientation sessions and see Kaye take the time and care to slowly build a relationship with my shy baby. I could see Kaye slow down for my child and wait for her to be comfortable and that caring patience meant that I could feel comfortable leaving my child with her. She also arrived earlier than her usual hours to be able to greet my baby in the moring on drop off, and is always so friendly and approachable when I have questions (of which I have many). Thank you for being the village I didn't think I could have.
Parent
Thank you Suki and the Nursery team for all that you do. Our child loves the activities you plan and set up. Thank you for being caring and nurturing!

‘I am more than grateful to start my educator’s journey in Butterflies and being part of them. I always feel supported, inspired and cared by my amazing colleagues that the way they treat people with love, kindness and respect.’—Suki (Nursery Educator)
“My journey at Butterflies started 3 years ago. Not just as a educator but as a mum, I couldn’t be more grateful and can not put into words what this place means to my family. Having your own child at work can be sometimes challenging for all people involved but since day one my daughter and myself have been treated with outstanding respect and care. The same care and respect I’ve seen towards each child and family welcomed at Butterflies.
In all these years they supported me professionally and as a person and no doubt I would choose Butterflies again to provide the best learning environment a child could have in their early years.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all amazing co workers, teachers and management team at Butterflies.”--Gabrielle and Julia (Nursery Room Leader and Preschooler)
I started my journey as an Early Childhood Teacher in Butterflies ten years ago. Back then, Rose and I were both teaching on the floor. Now, as a director, Rose has managed to nurture such a beautiful and supportive environment in Butterflies. I can see the commitment that Butterflies Early Learning has in providing the best for the children. The best educational programs, the best physical environment, the best educators. At Butterflies, educators are valued and respected for their expertise. We work as a team and collaborate extensively- ensuring that our curriculum best reflects the interests of the children. Families can be assured that we always have the children’s best interest in mind and that everyone is seen and their voices heard. I am so lucky to be part of such a supportive team who values my role as an educator. –Nikki (Toddler Educator/ Trainer and Assessor Early Childhood Education and Care)
Centre philosophy
Centre philosophy
We believe that children are viewed as successful, competent and capable learners who are given opportunities to construct their own understanding, contribute to the learning of others and participate in decisions that affect them. We believe that playing should be each child’s main activity during their early childhood life, thus we work hard to provide a play- based environment with lots of stimulating resources and educators’ scaffolding. Our children are consistently supported to build their social skills and independence from the day they enter Butterflies. They are encouraged to interact with love, confidence, resilience, adaptability, compassion, integrity, responsibility and respect.
Our educators aim to role model each child’s life skills to be respectful and inclusive within our community and society. We believe each child comes from a unique cultural background with their own personality and values. We acknowledge their effort of trying, their “big feelings” by allowing them to make mistakes and to guide them to achieve a positive attitude to life. We hear their voices and follow their leads with reasonable boundaries when planning their learning experiences, extra curriculum activities, incursions and excursions.
Children are given every opportunity to succeed and their diverse circumstances, cultural backgrounds and abilities are respected and valued. Here at Butterflies, we strongly believe that partnership with families and trusting relationships are important to keep our children’s development consistent and to thrive better each day. Without their primary teacher in daily life, it is challenging to support our children’s learning. Therefore, we always hear the voices of our families and take their feedback with respect and understanding. Our families are feeling the instant connection to our built environment and our warm and passionate educators, both of which provide our children with a home away from home that is safe, stimulating, and inclusive. Being a boutique service also allows us to build a trusting relationship with our families with timely communication, therefore being able to respond to their requests more effectively. All together, we’re proud to see the friendships that have grown among children and families. We aim for every child and family to leave with a memorable childhood journey from Butterflies.
The Management and all educators at Butterflies are dedicated to quality outcomes for children. We are professional, committed to lifelong learning, skilled and knowledgeable, reflective and collaborative. We are approachable and aim to create a nurturing, inclusive and creative/critical-thinking learning experience for our children and their families. We believe that the rights and best interests of the child underpin all our practices. Safety, health and wellbeing of all children in our care is paramount. Each child should be respected without discrimination or bias, and has a voice to be heard and actioned.
We work in partnership with our community by organising incursions and excursions regularly throughout the year. Children learn by participating, experiencing adventure, and by establishing a collaborative partnership in the community, this will help our young generation to understand the world and build a sense of ownership and autonomy as young citizens. We work closely with professionals to assist children who have high needs, and help our families to understand how to support their child to become a lifelong learner.
At Butterflies, we acknowledge the Cammeraygal people with whom we share the land past, present and future and will continue working with the children to build respect and value our Aboriginal community. We believe that it is important to teach children history and being curious about diverse culture and heritage. Being critical when reflecting our practices and being respectful among colleagues is also vital learning for our young Australian citizens in how to respect and value the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
As an Educational Provider we take our environmental responsibility to heart and have embedded ongoing sustainable practices as part of our mission to earth. We recognise the need to educate and include children in sustainable practices to help protect the environment today and for the future. We believe that our small day to day sustainable practices will eventually contribute to the world as children will learn and pass the green message to their families and society and hopefully this message will carry forward from one generation to the next.
About the curriculum
About the curriculum
Butterflies ELC child-centered play based learning to enhance each child’s development, learning and wellbeing. Educational programs are developed by the individual room educators and clearly outline the proposed teaching strategies and learning intentions.
The Butterflies ELC teaching and learning philosophy is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), with these guidelines remaining central in the planning of daily programs and activities.
Butterflies ELC’s educators use a holistic approach to help children continue developing in all areas, including - physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language.
Butterflies hosts monthly events for children and families as they believe this will help the educators build closer relationships with children, families and the wider community. These events include Harmony Week, Preschool Graduation, Christmas Concert, Multicultural Day, Fire Fighter Day, Grandparents Day, etc.
Early childhood program
Butterflies ELC follows the EYLF (Early Years Learning Framework) program to guide teaching intentions and practices. Butterflies ELC also incorporates the NSW Curriculum Framework to direct educators and ensure they are offering learning experiences in every part of the day.
Butterflies ELC believes that a good relationship between educators and children is integral to their learning experience as it builds trust, and helps the educators to have a better understanding of a child’s motivations, interests and ideas. Educators provide families with evidence-based education summaries every three months as children work towards their learning and developmental goals and celebrate milestones and achievements.
Transition to school program
Butterflies ELC Transition to School Program has been designed to ensure that children are ready for school in social, physical, and intellectual respects.
At the beginning of the year, Butterflies ELC organises a Transition to School conference with local primary school teachers to give parents insight into what children need to get ready for ‘big’ school.
Butterflies ELC arranges one-on-one meetings with parents to keep them up to date on their child’s progress and set learning goals, all with the intention of preparing children for a successful school transitioning process.

She loves going to butterflies for their friendship, dedication and caring. My daughter learned a lot from her teachers. She loves the subjects that they give in butterflies. Rose the director is also hands on teaching. She knows every child's needs and work on improving them. Eunice is a very positive person. There is one time when my daughter managed to spell a big word and got it right she was so proud and she made sure that we knew that my daughter did that so we could imprace her. Eunice and Rose are very enthusiastic people with a very detailed oriented. They know everything about the child's charts and how they improved in the past couple of months. They always work on the child's needs and work on how to improve the curriculum to satisfy all children 's need. Read more

The team at Butterflies are friendly, experienced and attentive. My 11 month old has just started at butterflies, my top priority is her emotional wellbeing and this is something that butterflies takes seriously. Butterflies offered us unlimited orientation days which is unlike any other daycare we looked at. We organised 2 weekly orientations over a 2 month period where I attended also and introduced my daughter to her new environment, peers and educators. By the time her first day came around and I was to drop her off and leave she felt safe, was able to enjoy herself and fully engage in activities. This meant I could focus fully on work and feel calm knowing that she was not in distress. Thank you to Rose and the team for making an otherwise stressful experience so easy. Read more
Aww~Thank you for your positive feedback Nicole! Your valuable feedback makes all our work worth it. I'm sure your baby is also very proud of your effort of trying to make things easier for her~ Feeling safe is the number 1 before learning and thriving, and we know that we can achieve it together with the trust we have built!

Rose and her team of educators welcomed us from overseas very warmly, and our children were happily attending the childcare within a month. The children are all international and from different backgrounds, which has a great inspiration to my children. We are glad to be a part of the community and hope many more will enjoy their childcare experience at Butterflies Early Learning Centre in near future. Read more
Thank you for providing such positive feedback for us Arisa. We're glad to see how well both children are settled smoothly. With a diverse culture in our small community, we always want to make sure to acknowledge each child's cultural identity that they should feel they belong to and be proud of.
