St Lucia Kindergarten is a not-for-profit community Kindergarten, first established in 1948.
At St Lucia Kindergarten, we believe that children learn best when they are engaged in active, child-led play.
Our teachers and educators provide varied opportunities for learning through an inviting, yet challenging, environment in our well-resourced classrooms and large natural outdoor areas.
Our key focus is building secure and respectful relationships with all children and families. We are proud to have such a wonderful diverse community and celebrate the many cultures and languages of our families.
Our families recommend St Lucia Kindergarten because we:
- offer 2, 3 or 5 day places with After Kindy Care until 5:30pm
- are located next to Ironside State School
- have large natural outdoor playgrounds with beautiful gardens and trees
- include fantastic excursions and incursions in our program
- offer Nature Play Excursions in our local bush reserve
- hold regular social events for families
- are led by passionate and experienced educators

As an immigrant to Australia, I didn't know how huge the differences in educational quality were between daycare-based 'kindy' and the C&K 'sessional' Kindy. They really are WORLDS apart. St Lucia Kindy is a humming ecosystem with heart, a place where my unique kid feels safe and has blossomed into his own rad self. The educators are highly educated, and this is their career rather than a job. They invest in the kids and it really shows. The support staff create a strong sense of community and make it a thoroughly enjoyable and easy task to be a kindy parent. The crazy high retention rate of teachers and support staff is testament to the quality of the culture here. My kid is exploding with interests and ideas since he joined St Lucia Kindy, and I can directly see how their play based curriculum has got him there. We are so grateful to be part of this pocket of childhood utopia that has somehow survived and is thriving! Read more

In January 2012 the National Quality Framework (NQF) came into effect across Australia.
The purpose of the NQF is to improve and standardise the quality of child care through a
range of measures including better staff to child ratios, higher staff qualifications
and an assessment and rating system designed to promote continuous improvement.
Under the NQF child care services are assessed and rated against the National Quality Standards (NQS).
The NQS measures the quality of early childhood education and care in Australia. It will cover
most long day care, family day care, preschool/kindergarten and outside school hours care services.
Under these standards child care services will be assessed and rated against the
seven quality areas, 18 standards and 58 elements that make up the NQS.
