Programs
Programs
The first five years in a child’s life are critical. During these years they shape so much of the person they will become. The program recognises this and tailors an individual approach for each and every child. The personalised nature of the program means that the children’s needs are met and their interests are fostered while they learn alongside their peers.
The educators use both structured and unstructured play in the indoor and outdoor learning environments to deliver the program. They are highly skilled at spotting learning opportunities in everyday moments, guiding children towards lessons and skills they will carry with them for life.
The program is always relevant for the age and stage of the children. The babies and toddlers have ample opportunities to explore the world around them, making new discoveries around every corner. As the children grow and look towards their big step to big school, the program shifts gears to help prepare them for this transition.
As global community citizens, the program helps the children to prepare for this role with regular community incursions and excursions. The children learn about who they are and their place in the community as they develop a strong sense of belonging.
Meet the team
Meet the team
As an individual, each member of the team is highly experienced and skilled at what they do. Put them together and they create an incredible team that delivers exceptional education and care every day. They work collaboratively to create an inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
The team is made up of a number of roles, each integral to the centre and the children. The teachers are all degree qualified, bringing their knowledge of industry best practice and modern early childhood thinking to the centre. The Lead Educators are responsible for the experience each child has in the centre while also managing compliance aspects in each room. Finally, the Educational Leads are hands on with the children, supporting their daily learning and development.
Unique to Guardian Childcare & Education is the role of Baby Ambassador, a person who supports the youngest learners to adapt to life at childcare. It’s a big time for a little person… and for their family! The Baby Ambassador is there to get to know the babies and their daily routines and then liaise with the families to calm the nerves and reassure them that their baby is loved and cared for.
Parent communication and involvement
Parent communication and involvement
Parent involvement is an important element of the centre. This helps to create a strong feeling of community across the centre as the families get to know each other. Parental involvement is also beneficial to the children and the educators. Parents are their child’s first teacher. They understand their needs, strengths and interests and can then communicate this to the educators.
Parents are invited to join their children for breakfast at drop off or at any other meal time. They are also welcome to join the children on any excursions or other activities.
Communication between parents and educators is open and honest. The educators make regular updates in the StoryPark app and use this as a channel to communicate with parents. Through the Visible Learning Displays in the centre the parents can stay up to date with their child’s progress. They can see what they’ve been learning and ask questions about their day.
The early years are an important time in a child’s life. Sending a child off to childcare can be emotional for many parents. The educators understand this and have an open door policy for parents. They want to build relationships based on mutual trust because this is what the children benefit from the most.
Day in the life
Day in the life
Morning
Ava is 9 months old and arrives at the centre with her big brother. She happily crawls to her educator and starts playing with some building blocks.
Lunch
After lunch, Ava has her nap. The educators follow the same routine she has on the days when she is at home with her parents.
Afternoon
The nursery children are playing outside in the afternoon. Ava loves to dig in the sandpit and delights when she discovers a caterpillar crawling next to her.
Morning
William arrives early in the morning. He doesn’t want his dad to leave today so his dad stays for breakfast. After breakfast he happily says goodbye to his dad and joins his friends who are playing with some trucks.
Lunch
After lunch, the Toddlers do some yoga. It always makes William feel really relaxed. After yoga, they do some art activities with leaves they have collected from outside.
Afternoon
Before William goes home, he enjoys some dramatic play with his friends. They are superheroes on a mission to deliver a puppy safely to his new home.
Morning
Lachie is off to school next year and he couldn’t be prouder. He arrives for the day and heads straight outside to see which of his friends has already arrived for the day. They all get straight to work hunting for bugs in the yard, their latest obsession.
Lunch
Over lunch, Lachie and his friends practise opening their lunchboxes. It’s a really tricky thing to do but with some help from his educators he gets the hang of it.
Afternoon
Lachie is learning to write his name. Some of the letters are really easy but others are much harder. Today they’re writing their name in the sand which is much easier than using a pencil!

What amazed me about the centre was within a few weeks all educators knew him by name and gave him so much love (Not just his room educators). This was very important to me when doing hand over in the mornings and evening for a baby and gave me as the mum of peace of mind. Now that he is a toddler, he loves school and I know he does much more than I can do with him at home. He is thriving and I know it's cause of the effort his teachers put in with at the Guardian.
