Lilydale Lakeside Children's Centre offers families a warm, safe and caring environment for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. A passionate team of early childhood professionals deliver enriching play-based programs to help children prepare for school, whilst also gently nurturing creativity, confidence and resilience.
The purpose-built centre is designed as a calm, comfortable and homely environment, with sensory spaces where children can follow their interest and instincts to play and learn. The light and bright interiors feature natural timber furniture, tactile rugs and teepees. Educators present diverse activities including an exciting STEAM program.
The beautifully landscaped outdoors space features a covered deck, shade sails, a sandpit and wide lawns for bike riding and play. The activity programs have a strong focus on nature play to develop creative and critical thinking skills. By tending to the vegetable gardens, children are also introduced to themes of sustainability and the environment.

Programs
Programs
In line with the Early Years Learning Framework, the centre provides tailored programs that respond to children’s individual needs, helping them learn and develop at their own pace.
Preschool / Kindergarten / Prep
The preschool program is designed for children between 3 and 5 years of age. Educators help prepare children for a smooth transition to kindergarten by introducing academic subjects and fostering personal and emotional skills. The holistic preschool program includes language and maths, STEAM, art and music, plus community incursions and excursions.
STEAM
The stimulating STEAM program introduces children to science and technology, with fun art, craft and reading activities. Children have fun with interactive experiments including making volcanoes and kaleidoscope rainbows. The STEAM program responds to children’s innate curiosity and builds important cognitive skills.
Indoor/Outdoor Learning
The centre priorities nature play with a balance of indoor and outdoor programs including sustainability, sports and games, to help children build and hone their gross motor, physical, cognitive, social and emotional skills.

About the curriculum
About the curriculum
The centre curriculum is developed in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which focuses on play-based, nature-inspired and holistic development.
The EYLF helps children develop skills in literacy, numeracy, languages and creativity through play-based learning in a safe and secure environment.
The curriculum is tailored to the age of the children. For infants and toddlers, the educators nurture cognitive and physical development as well as communication, emotional and social skills.
The preschool curriculum includes structured activities, free time, incursions and excursions. Educators build on children’s knowledge of literacy and numeracy and help foster crucial skills including problem-solving.
