Programs
Programs
At Reddam Early Learning School Lindfield, programs are facilitated by specialist teachers who are hand picked to offer children new experiences through:
Music: this program aims to give children the opportunity to engage with and create music both together and individually guided by a specialist music teacher. Learning through music continues as children naturally love to sing songs and play instruments from a young age. Music gives children security in who they are and a sense of knowing that they belong, and is used extensively throughout the day.
Physical Education: this program ensures that children are physically ready for learning. Balance, posture and coordination are essential for children to be able to sit still and pay attention in the early years. The program seeks to give children a good physical experience, enhancing skills development but also to encourage friendship, provide a positive outlet for emotions and energy, develop teamwork skills, foster leadership opportunities and allow children to take responsibility for their health and well-being.
Dance & Drama: in these lessons a specialist drama teacher provides opportunities for children to accept and assign roles, and then act them out. It is a time when children are encouraged to break through the walls of reality, pretend to be someone or something different from themselves, and dramatise situations and actions to go along with the roles they have chosen to play.
About the curriculum
About the curriculum
At Reddam Early Learning School Lindfield, the children’s indoor and outdoor environment is considered the ‘third teacher’. Their Reggio Emilia inspired approach portrays a unique view of the child: each seen as beautiful, powerful, competent, creative, curious, and full of potential.
Placed at the centre of the curriculum, children are encouraged to select and explore topics and activities for themselves, developing deeper engagement, building independence and stimulating curiosity. Rather than being seen as the target of instruction, children are seen as having the active role of an apprentice and researcher.
Many of the activities take the form of projects where children have opportunities to explore, observe, hypothesise, question, and discuss to clarify their understanding. Children are also viewed as social beings and a focus is made on the child in relation to other children, the family, the teachers, and the community rather than on each child in isolation.
12 months - 24 months - building nurturing relationships
The educators believe that nurturing, respectful relationships are the most important part of their offering. Parents are a child’s first teacher and collaboration with parents plays an essential part in supporting the holistic development of your child. The process of consultation and collaboration with parents allows the educators to support parents in their role as the most important part of a child’s life. By providing an environment that feels safe, children will be able to feel confident enough to express their needs through a sense of belonging and well-being. Emphasis is placed on emotional and social development as the children grow into independent, confident explorers of their environment.
2 years - 3 years - encouraging independent investigation
The educators design the program around encouraging children to become independent investigators with a focus on language development and communication. As young investigators, children ask questions and attempt different experiences that are presented in their daily environment.
3 years - 4 years - discussion and discovery
Educators see the children as competent researchers that contribute to their own learning. The skills learnt in previous stages are used to explore their provocations through discussion and discovery. Nurturing of the individual remains the primary focus in the Stage 3 classroom. Happy children, who feel secure and cared for, are able to explore and enjoy their learning experiences in a calm, uncluttered environment which encourages deeper engagement with the provocations. Older children are encouraged to take part in longer project based learning and the provocations followed are rich and varied following the interests of the children. The development of language is key in this age group and many areas will encourage communication between peers. Role play and small world play becomes increasingly important as children build vocabulary and begin to replicate that which they see in the world.
4 years - 5 years - pre literacy and numeracy
Children have moved from being explorers to investigators to researchers to having the attributes to work together as a collaborative team. The fundamentals of being effective learners, ready to reach their full potential have been instilled. Children’s readiness for formal learning is the focus of the Stage 4 program which includes pre-literacy, pre-numeracy, physical readiness for learning, and social and emotional readiness.

Meet the team
At Reddam Early Learning School Lindfield the team believe that the teachers, educators and staff are the key to their success. The hand picked staff are highly motivated and trained to ensure each child is challenged and prepared for future learning. The centre’s teachers have excellent qualifications and dynamic personalities with a professional demeanour, creating a nurturing environment for the children.
Through observation, teachers become acutely aware of each child’s individual needs and latent potential as they constantly engage through attentive listening and observation of the child’s interests, concerns or ideas. The teachers challenge the children to deepen their understanding and ultimately identify the endless possibilities to their thinking. Teachers plan rigorously, yet are flexible, for on-going projects and explorations, whilst still covering the prescribed curriculum. Materials and resources are carefully chosen to inspire inquiring minds and build skills.

"I have been a Reddam Lindfield mum for 3 years now, and I am a high school teacher in St Ives. I commend wonderful Reddam to any parent wanting a holistic, gentle, play/based learning environment for their children, supported by incredibly caring and supportive teachers and educators. In 2R, it felt as if I had family members, cousins and aunts, looking after our son, with the most beautiful and engaging classroom setups imaginable. In 3R, a world of fun with talented preschool teachers and so much play. In 4R, we were lucky to be in a class with whom I consider the best preschool teacher I have ever met. The grounds of Reddam are spacious, green, and open, with outdoor play and nature exploration encouraged daily. The classrooms are beautifully clean and engaging, warm and full of childhood joy. The food is yummy, healthy and gobbled up. The curriculums and feedback are detailed, thorough, high-level and followed-through. Reddam could be an exemplar to show all other schools how to communicate to parents… where they find the find the time to create the detailed daily reports, curriculum highlights, photo diaries and the most spectacular art diaries and end of semester reports is amazing to me. The spectacular educators are kind, clever, and talented at guiding little people in their preschool and early learning journeys. Run, don’t walk. Reddam lindfield is incomparable. 10/10" Read more

Their staff have always been kind and attentive and put a lot of effort into the daily programs. The facilities and environment is so peaceful with plenty of open space to enjoy. My daughter had severe allergies to wheat, dairy, eggs, nuts, fish and the food provided by an external caterer could easily manage these dietary requirements and made us feel at ease. The staff are well trained, professional and have always been so careful with her allergies as well as ensuring her paperwork and medications are in date. Read more

The staff know my children extremely well and provide experiences that extend their vocabulary, are rich and engaging with natural resources all the while providing exceptional care and cuddles. The communication is flawless and I know every move my children are making, how they are progressing and where they are headed to next. None of this would be possible without their exceptional educational director,Lara. If you are considering this centre then I would highly recommend you book a tour. We never want to leave. Read more
