About the curriculum

About the curriculum
The centre puts the uniqueness of each child at the heart of everything they do. They believe that the foundations laid in the early childhood years are crucial to children’s being, belonging, and becoming. The centre’s educationally appropriate programs support the Early Years Learning Framework, theorists of Early Years Education, and industry principles and practices; whilst acknowledging that children learn best through play.
Imagine Childcare and Kindergarten Doncaster believes that each child is a capable and confident learner. They work together with families to ensure each child’s needs and interests are met, to give them the best outcome in life as they grow and learn through play. Through their play-based curriculum, they aim to assist children to develop a life-long love of learning that will support them as they transition from the early years to their future years of schooling and adulthood.
Health & Nutrition

Health & Nutrition
The centre understands that nutrition plays an important role in each child’s physical development as well as their attitudes towards healthy food.
All of the meals and snacks are prepared onsite by professional qualified chefs every day.
The educators use meal time as an opportunity to share positive experiences around food and to help children develop social skills such as sharing and turn taking. They role model positive behaviours and attitudes, and involve the children in the menu planning.
All food allergies, intolerances, cultural requirements and family preferences are taken into account by consulting with parents when meal planning for the children.

We left at the end of December after being there for about six months. We went because our little centre in Templestowe closed for repairs (after which we received an email saying they weren’t reopening). In that time, there were three different directors. Communication was terrible. There was no way for us to contact our children’s educators other than by email (and then we were often told that they hadn’t received the information we’d sent in). We generally found that emails weren’t responded to in a timely manner and often weren’t replied to at all. There are and were some beautiful educators that worked at Templestowe and Doncaster but we saw many leave in the time that we were there. Things that really bothered me while we were there… - The lack of communication (not receiving daily updates until that evening or at all, having emails replied to using ai or being told to ‘email with any concerns’ and then never hearing back) -Staff not knowing my children (being asked what their names were to check them off the list when I picked them up-massive red flag) -Not being confident that staff knew about my children’s medical issues (as staff turnover was so high and my youngest was never in the room he was meant to be in as the numbers of children and staff kept changing) -The building lacks any warmth. Where we were previously my children would see each other. This place is like a hospital building and the first day I picked them up I couldn’t even find my kids as they weren’t in the rooms they’d been dropped off. The final straw came for me when our Templestowe director left and her replacement spent their time behind the desk instead of on the floor getting to know the children. They had no idea about any of the information we had given our children’s kindergarten teachers or that a pre school field officer had been out to see our child and their recommendations. Even though we left at the end of December we are STILL receiving emails to sign documents of price rises (this has prompted me to write this negative review-I have contacted Imagine but that hasn’t seemed to work!) We even received updates of what our child was doing in the nursery room after we had left the centre. Again, there were and ARE some beautiful staff at the centre but the management really lets the place down. Read more

While there have been past and present staff members at the centre who have provided exceptional care, the overall experience has been overshadowed by the frequent changes in management. I have repeatedly reached out to upper management in Queensland to address the ongoing issues and the disappointing manner in which the centre is being operated. Unfortunately, my attempts to engage in a constructive dialogue were met with indifference; I was either dismissed, faced blame directed at hardworking staff, or received generic AI-generated responses. Upon entering the centre, there is a lack of warmth and care—it feels cold and tense. The staff appear to be unsupported and lacking guidance, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere reminiscent of a toxic work environment. The centre's manager has been extremely rude, and when parents raised concerns, we were consistently ignored. It is alarming that over eight staff members left in a matter of weeks, a clear sign of underlying issues. I have withdrawn my son from the centre, as have six other families from his class that I am aware of. Promises of extracurricular activities and parent evenings went unfulfilled, and the management's lack of interest in our feelings or suggestions is evident. The centre treats families like numbers rather than valued members of a community. I do not trust them to ensure my son's happiness and safety. I cannot recommend this centre to new families. Seek a centre that truly values its community and fosters a kind, supportive environment. Read more
