The Harmony Difference
We bring a sense of calm to the years that define early childhood with a composure that is all at once confident and reassured, that can only come from knowing every detail has been carefully and consciously curated.
Beautifully composed from the inside-out, we set a tone and a standard, that says “exceptional” in every way. When all the elements work together in harmony – the environment, the people, the curriculum – it is powerful and wonderful. It is all you could want for your child, and more.
At Harmony, everything we do, is carefully considered and intentional, taking the best from educational philosophy and evidence-based design to create studios and spaces that nurture, protect and grow.
We consistently raise the standards for early education. Our holistic approach to early learning and development is informed by contemporary inquiry-led educational and human research, and the insights of respected international early childhood theorists.
Your child is considered a confident and capable member of our learning community, we embrace the unique and understand the power of celebrating individuals. By recognising and responding to each child’s unique learning disposition and style, we ensure your child’s learning journey is bespoke, and support their ability to contribute to their own and others’ learning.
Harmony is elevating early education.

Parent Partnerships
We have the privilege to exist as an extension of a child’s family. We believe in collaborating closely to understand and meet your family’s need and interests. We value and encourage parental input through honest, gentle, and supportive conversations, fostering a sense of belonging and assurance.
Nurturing Environments
We are wholeheartedly committed to providing exceptional learning experiences that shape early childhood, which is why our centres are intentionally designed to allow the imaginations of children to flourish. We encourage learning through inspiration, combining nutrition, health, happiness and education.
Each Harmony centre offers naturalistic outdoor playscapes with real grass, sand, hay, vegetable and herb gardens, and interaction with and care for animals.
Early childhood education lays the foundation for your child’s future growth, and every detail has been carefully and beautifully curated to instil a sense of calm and confidence for both children and families. We appreciate every child has a unique journey and embracing individuality is what distinguishes Harmony Early Education.
Harmony is early learning, by design.
Companionship
When things work in harmony, you notice. Managed and operated by a team of dedicated child advocates, we view children and their teachers as companions in the early childhood journey. We believe in offering rich experiences, guiding your child to become a confident and active learner while developing their autonomy, inter-dependence and resilience.
We are passionate child advocates and experts with an ambition and vision that is inspired by children, excited by artistry and admired by our peers.
Our teachers consciously take the time to ensure every child feels noticed, heard and understood, actively involving them in decisions that impact their lives. We all deserve to belong, no matter where we are or who we’re with—embracing and respecting diversity is our path to inclusivity.
We aspire for all children to develop a compassionate, responsible, and peaceful approach to solving life challenges.
Image Of A Child
At Harmony, we embrace an attitude that challenges, uplifts and encourages to always reach the highest standard and potential.
We see children as competent and capable citizens, nurturing their autonomy, confidence, self-esteem, self-regulation and self-assessment while encouraging their active participation in learning. This perspective deeply influences how we share and celebrate each child’s growth and learning journey with one another and their families.
We use our image of a child to support:
- The words we use and how they manifest in practice
- The structure of our learning environments
- Questions we ask
- The way we present learning experiences
- Decisions regarding our learning approach
- A child’s role in their own learning
- The role of adult’s role in a child’s learning
- Sharing our teaching and learning through documentation
Meeting and exceeding expectations is the blueprint for our success.

Nutrition
We recognise the importance of healthy foods and drinks for your child’s growth and well-being. That’s why we are dedicated to offering wholesome, nutritious, and balanced meals every day. Additionally, we fully support breastfeeding mothers and warmly welcome you to come into your child’s studio to feed at any time.
Healthy Menus
Our bi-weekly seasonal menus are thoughtfully curated by our chefs and displayed on the kitchen noticeboard in each centre. They offer a variety of options that can be tailored to meet the individual needs of every child. We have collaborated with medical and paediatric nutrition experts to ensure our meals align with Nutrition Australia’s national guidelines, promoting healthy growth and development.

About the Curriculum
About the Curriculum
In our studios, especially designed for children birth – two years, we draw upon these key concepts:
Free movement
We believe in Emmi Pickler’s philosophy, “Babies are allowed to move naturally and spontaneously follow their own developmental timetable.” Environments at Harmony are designed to invite children’s free movement and we encourage the infants to reach out, roll, crawl and cruise in order to develop their core muscles which supports them to become independently mobile.
Baby led weaning
We invite children to feed themselves from the time they commence solids, following the infant’s lead. We provide a healthy, balanced mix of finger foods and support the child to monitor how much they wish to eat. Educators are always sitting and engaging with the child during mealtimes.
Individualised care moments
Educators remain ‘present’ during nappy change times and communicate respectfully with children. Emmi Pikler and Magda Gerber believe caregivers need to take the time to make nappy-changing, feeding, bathing and dressing an unhurried, relaxed and pleasant quality time – with the baby being an active partner.
Exploratory times
Each day children at Harmony have uninterrupted time for play and interaction. Crawling and walking infants are invited to freely explore our indoor and outdoor areas and gardens, interacting with nature, each other, and the world around them. Non-mobile infants are supported by our educators.
In our studios catering to two to three year old children, we support the following core concepts:
Rest and sleep times
As a service we begin to develop rest and sleep rituals for our group of two to three year olds. If your child does not require a sleep during their day, we offer alternative, quiet-time learning experiences.
Mealtimes
Children are viewed as confident and capable during mealtime and are aware of their own needs. We know that they’ll eat as much or as little as their body needs.
Independent toileting
To ensure toileting success, educators invite children to this experience with patience and trust. We create an unrushed and positive experience for your child while they gain toileting independence. Your child will be supported with the utmost respect and with special attention to their dignity during these moments.
Creative experiences
We invite children to explore a selection of materials and resources, colour palettes, utensils and surfaces each day – all readily available and within easy access to express their thinking and understanding of the world.
Exploratory times
Each day, our two-threes are offered large blocks of uninterrupted time for play and inquiry. Children at Harmony can plan for play across all our spaces using a wide variety of resources and materials with support from peers and educators.
In our studios for children three to five years, we approach our day in a calm and unhurried way, while still ensuring we incorporate key elements such as:
Morning meetings
Our morning meetings are an important launch point and key ritual for the day. All children are encouraged to share their thinking for play and encouraged to plan for their play. This could be a verbal plan discussed with our educator or a drawing/record of their plan. This helps them create a structure for their large block of uninterrupted time in the morning.
Mealtimes
We work with progressive meals times as part of supporting self-regulation for all age groups of children. In this way, children have an opportunity to sit with small groups of friends to enjoy a self-serve meal or snack at the table. We use real crockery and utensils in order to connect children to the real world. Educators always sit at the table alongside children to support this social learning experience.
Rest times
Another opportunity for children to begin to develop autonomy as they are supported by educators to go to sleep or rest independently – including our older infants. All children can rest or participate in quiet time learning activities for a period during the day to recharge for the afternoon.
Small group
Times are offered throughout the day and include music, dance, story reading and storytelling, small and large muscle physical play, games with rules, and reflections on learning.

Programs
Programs
We embed physical literacy into every day at Harmony. Either via short transition sessions which happen daily, or longer dedicated movement sessions focused on building physical and other skills via engaging play-based activities.
Physically literacy is about so much more than ‘being active’ and ‘fit’. A physically literate child has the movement skills, motivation and confidence to seek out and enjoy a physically active lifestyle now and in the future.
By fostering physical competence, body awareness, and social interaction, we encourage a lifelong love of movement and promote overall health and well-being. Our holistic approach integrates cognitive, emotional, and physical growth, creating inclusive environments where children thrive through play-based learning.
- Increased ability in fundamental movement skills building confidence, self-esteem and enjoyment across a range of physical activities.
- Significant improvements in vocabulary and communication.
- Improvement in cognitive learning which includes memory and problem solving.
- Improvements in social behaviour such as teamwork, sharing and negotiation.
- Higher levels of engagement both in and out of the studios enabling the building of friendships and the ability to play together in small groups.
- Improvements in the ability to concentrate and focus on each task, an important requirement for school.
- Promotes development of stronger muscles and joint, reduction of cardiovascular disease risk factors, increased vocabulary skills and cognitive behaviour

Our daughter has been attending since about 12 weeks of age and is absolutely thriving. The team at Northlakes Play and learn are super friendly and helpful. Our daughter is always smiling when I drop her off and is happy to be handed over to any of the educators, even if she does have favourites. They make delicious and healthy food onsite and do both free play and constructive learning through play. I feel my daughter has grown and developed incredibly well since she has started daycare with these ladies. Can't find a single fault with the centre at all. Read more
