Programs
Programs
Language program: the centre participates in the government funded E.L.L.A (Early Learning Language Australia) language program. This introduces the kindergarten age children to learning a new language via interactive tablet apps, which have been developed in consultation with experts in languages, early childhood and technology.
Sustainability program: children are taught to be creators, not consumers. Educators ensure that they use resources and equipment which is resourceful and recycled wherever possible. The program supports children to understand and to care for their environment and reinforces the need to reduce, reuse and recycle.
School readiness program: the kindergarten children are provided with a stimulating, educational and adventure-packed program that helps prepare them for school.
About the curriculum
About the curriculum
The program is modified regularly to cater to each baby’s patterns of growth and development. Each child has their own daily activities which will enable them to grow and which will help with healthy brain development. The educators pay particular attention to enabling the child to develop cognitive and social skills which are age-appropriate. Activities regularly encourage the development of physical strength, hand-eye coordination, sensory and spatial orientation. The environment is rich with sounds, sights and sensory experiences which encourage social and emotional interactions, assisting in the development of more complex communication skills.
The centre offers Junior and Senior Toddler rooms, where the program provides opportunities for the children to develop sharing and cooperation skills, language development, non-verbal communication as well as learning to develop social skills and friendships. Toddlers develop their own unique language, maths, investigation, creative skills, fine and gross motor skills, sensory experiences as well as social and environmental understanding. The developmental progress of the toddlers is monitored and regularly communicated with parents through conversations and electronic updates.
Here the children are encouraged to learn about themselves and their friends. They are encouraged to build on the knowledge and skills they already have and this creates the perfect environment for them to be ready for 4 Year Old Kindergarten. The programs in this room will continue to work on cultural experiences, sensory events, fine and gross motor skills development, language development, maths, creative experiences and the development of social skills as well as language.
The educators ensure that the kindergarten children are provided with a stimulating, educational and adventure-packed program. They work collaboratively with families to ensure that the children are ready for school at the end of the year. The centre holds regular parent teacher interviews throughout the year to provide information on school readiness.

Health & nutrition
Health & nutrition
At Dudley Street Childcare and Kindergarten, the menus are created with assistance from Nutrition Australia twice a year. The menus are displayed in each room as well as in the foyer for parents to view.
All children are provided with nutritiously balanced meals, with a focus on fresh, healthy foods. Mealtimes are considered a time for rich conversation as children and educators gather together in small groups as a community.
Educators work closely with families of children who have allergies and intolerances, to make sure that they have balanced, interesting and nutritious food every day. All recipes have lactose, egg and gluten-free alternatives, and are free from nuts and fish.
