We are profoundly passionate about children and their education. It's a force that's driven and inspired us from day one. So we've set out to make it better. To bring you more educational services than ever. To give you personal recommendations from people who know and love children's education. To deepen the connection between families and educators. To re-imagine learning. This is Woodlands. And it's just the beginning.
At Woodlands, our goal is to provide a seamless and positive enrolment experience for prospective families looking to join our Woodlands Community.
LOVE
Woodlands is a partnership between educators, children, and parents who are driven to deliver whole-child, personalized learning so that every child can reach their potential.
EDUCATION
We encourage the growth of independence and social awareness, sensory exploration, the development of physical skills and language development. Children play in a planned indoor and outdoor environment designed to provide a variety of materials to explore.
FUN
Our goal is to encourage each child’s natural curiosity and interest in learning. We feel it is important for children to actively participate in the learning process, and therefore provide many opportunities for learning by doing, for both indirect and direct acquisition of new knowledge and skills.

Programs

Programs
The centre focuses on holistic development and school readiness with exciting programs including literacy, numeracy, language classes, sustainability education, identity, physical development and camaraderie.
- Sports & yoga program: Children enjoy weekly sports and yoga, learning to balance, throw, and kick, right down to the precise motion and technique. The program incorporates reflective learning of colours, shapes, numbers and letters through exciting games and guided exercises.
- Music & movement: Music-time is a fun favourite, where children dance and play their own instruments, while building confidence, and learning social skills and coordination.
- Cooking program: This program is a time children enjoy making their own food, while learning more about new types of food, healthy eating, and taking responsibility.
- Sustainability and bush kinder: The outdoor natural area inspires learning about Australian native plants and gardening.
- French language program: The benefits of learning an additional language at a young age include enhanced reading and writing skills, cognitive development and problem-solving skills. Children learn through play, art and craft, music, songs and stories.
- Lunch box program: For children transitioning to primary school, this program allows them to practise a lunch routine similar to a primary school setting, with the support and encouragement of teachers and educators.
Meet the team

Meet the team
Woodlands ELC puts the child first in everything it does. This starts by hiring only passionate and skilled teachers and educators.
Known as “Woodlanders”, the talented team share the same determination and passion for education. The team helps every child succeed and reach their full potential by providing inspiring and exciting educational experiences, and opportunities to learn important life skills.
The team proudly supports children to become empowered, confident, creative and eager learners.
Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement
The team actively partners with parents in every child’s education and development journey. They work to build a community where every family at Woodlands has the support they need to succeed and thrive.
The centre uses the Xplor Home App, allowing parents to easily stay in touch with the centre. The educators provide regular updates on the app and also notify parents about centre events.
Woodland’s also provides regular partnership meetings where parents can speak with the teachers and educators. These meetings provide an open forum to discuss education-related topics in an environment where opinions are respected and valued. The outcomes of these meetings also help to inform the program.
About the curriculum

About the curriculum
Woodlands provides a learning environment that supports children to thrive as they build a sense of being and becoming. Educators understand the importance of the development, and celebration of individual personalities to help create a sense of belonging where children have the confidence and resilience to play, learn and explore.
Nursery
6 weeks - 12 months
The Nursery classrooms are beautifully designed, safe, and inviting places where infants can thrive while being supported by experienced educators to reach developmental milestones, learn about their world and develop a sense of belonging.
From exploring different textures and sensory activities, to making music and singing, enjoying physical development through tummy time, to exploring the world of food and the outdoors, children are given every opportunity to thrive and enjoy their days.
1 year - 2 years
Woodlands 1 to 2-Year-Old Classrooms are thoughtfully designed spaces that motivate toddlers as they take on new challenges and develop their self-awareness, social skills, and communication. The classrooms provide opportunities for toddlers to use new skills and be active in safe surroundings.
Toddlers at this age have access to open ended resources to satisfy their growing curiosity. Fun activities including music and movement, early literacy and numeracy, crafts and gardening, and children have the explore and discover.
2 years - 3 years
Toddler classrooms are designed to foster a toddler’s natural desire to do things for themself, to explore, be active, imagine and create. The curriculum develops their self-awareness, self-regulation, communication, social skills and helps them make sense of the world around them.
Each day includes adventure. A day may involve playing instruments with ‘everyday’ tools, learning independence through making their own bed or cleaning up after themselves, to practising mud-cooking with their friends in the sandpit.
3 years - 5 years
Kindergarten classrooms are thoughtfully designed to be stimulating and challenging for children as they prepare for primary school. The experienced educators design and implement engaging, child-centred environments and experiences that embrace the individuality of each child by extending skills without limits.
The Kindergarten Program helps children transition to school with support for learning language and numeracy, crafts and painting, practical self-sufficiency and social skills.

Centre Reviews

Please be vigilant in your research before sending your children to a childcare facility and listen to word of mouth in the area over Google reviews. Most of these reviews come from staff members working at the center or family members of staff. I was previously offered credit to my account to leave a review so this could also be a reason for the high number of 5 star reviews. I haven’t said anything prior and stayed quiet as I did not want to upset the staff (especially while my kids were still attending here in fear of how they might be treated) but in light of recent events in Victoria feel the need to speak up and share my experience. My children no long attend woodlands Sunbury and once I left I realized just how terrible it was. Very high turnover of staff and a lot of students working there (often males)while my kids were enrolled who I witnessed multiple times being alone as the sole supervisor of the children in the yard and no other staff members to be found (I am not suggesting anything untoward happened) Terrible communication from management and room leaders in my experience. Locals avoid this centre like the plague and I wish I knew that sooner. Often there were no staff to be found in the room or yard from AM drop off. I wish I removed my children sooner so they could have had a more enriching experience. Kinder here was like non existent as all my child did during ‘3 year old kinder’ was wander the yard and play with slime. I knew then that I had to leave and that my kids deserved better care. I did experience some awesome individual staff members during our time here but the good ones quickly leave. I wouldn’t recommend! Read more

Firstly They have given my child a food allergen when brought up on numerous occasions it was downplayed, brushed aside and poor excuses each time. My son has spent days sitting isolated in a corner (this was communicated to me by the room leader only after I requested a meeting 6 weeks post the first incident. I requested this meeting as my son started to become very anxious and having panic attacks prior to and at drop off) when we would pick him up at the end of the day we were told he has has a good day and no problems. The acting centre manager at the time told us many lies during a notification of a severe complaint. The acting centre manager is still in leadership when she should have been stepped down. They have been negligent quite a few times. We had enough and removed our children due to safety reasons, they still made us give notice (even when it was a negligent reason) then after the notice period took money out of my account again. The staff turnover is honestly appalling, never know who is looking after your child. And staff turnover says a lot about the centre. The centre constantly smells of urine and faeces so their hygiene standards are appalling. After speaking to others in the community I have heard so many other horror stories about Woodlands! Seriously disgraceful they can still be open with how they do business. If you want an environment that nurtures your child I would be looking elsewhere. They do not pride themselves on any standards, they do not have your children wellbeing at heart and safety is not a priority. Read more

I am absolutely appalled by the lack of professionalism and care shown at Woodlands Sunbury. This centre has repeatedly demonstrated a shocking level of neglect and mismanagement. Children with known food intolerances have been given food they should not have been eating — despite this being clearly communicated multiple times. The health and wellbeing of the children are not being prioritised, and this is simply unacceptable. There have been alarming incidents where children were handled roughly, and when these concerns were raised, they were either downplayed or completely dismissed. The communication with parents is virtually non-existent — unless we chase them up, we are left completely in the dark. Staff turnover is out of control. Educators come and go constantly, and as parents, we have no idea who is looking after our children from one day to the next. Emily, the acting manager, is completely unprofessional using emojis in emails about serious matters. She treats serious issues as if they are jokes and fails to take accountability or provide reassurance to concerned parents. That’s if she even responds to these matters. Her dismissive attitude only adds to the growing lack of trust we have in the centre’s leadership. I do not recommend this centre to any parent who values safety, consistency, and proper communication. This has been an incredibly disappointing and distressing experience. Read more
