Extremely Disappointed – Serious Safety & Discrimination Concerns In my opinion I would strongly advise parents to reconsider enrolling their children at Tiny Tots Childcare Centre due to the serious issues my family has faced. Firstly, my son was physically hurt by a staff member, and when I raised concerns, it was dismissed with the response that “these circumstances only happen when children are naughty.” This is an appalling excuse for what should have been a properly investigated incident. In addition, my son was isolated from familiar faces and moved to a different area under the excuse of preventing him from climbing a fence. He was left distressed and crying, and even his teacher admitted that he was too young for that section. If staff were genuinely concerned about his safety, why wasn’t proper supervision put in place instead of isolating him? Even more shocking, I have a recording of a staff member admitting that they instructed him to climb the fence—a situation that should have never happened in the first place. Since attending the centre, my son has also developed eczema flare-ups, which were dismissed instead of properly addressed. His skin condition has significantly worsened since the introduction of a dog on the premises, something I was never informed about despite his allergies and fear of dogs. There was no consultation with parents and no confirmation of a risk assessment being conducted before bringing the animal into a space with young children. Beyond these concerns, my daughter—who has disabilities due to prematurity—was severely discriminated against. Despite being assured that her condition would not be an issue, she was limited to only one hour per week at the centre. This prevented her from forming relationships with staff and made it impossible for me to return to work. When I raised concerns, I was simply told that the staff did not feel comfortable—a completely unacceptable response from a childcare provider. Additionally, I was provided with false information regarding Centrelink. I was told that a specific document was required for my childcare subsidy, yet when I contacted Centrelink directly, they confirmed this was not true. When confronted, the centre contradicted itself multiple times, claiming it was a Centre policy rather than a formal requirement. It is also not the role of the centre to determine how much subsidy a family receives, which Centrelink clearly confirmed. It is beyond disappointing that rather than creating an inclusive and safe space for children, this centre chose to discriminate, isolate, and dismiss serious concerns. I will be forwarding all of this information, including recorded evidence, to the Education Department to ensure these incidents are properly investigated. Furthermore, I will be sharing my experience with families across the Rockingham region, particularly those with premature or special needs children, so they are fully aware of how this centre treats children with additional needs.
