Welcome to Mother Duck Child Care Enoggera
Our Enoggera child care centre is Mother Duck’s founding location. Recently renovated, it’s now one of our most modern facilities, carefully planned to create a warm, home-like setting to foster a sense of belonging. Spacious indoor environments encourage engaged learning through play. The playground has been carefully planned to provide the children with connections to the natural world. In this well-shaded play space, children are provided with opportunities to develop the curiosity, problem solving and investigation skills that contribute to lifelong learning.
We know that the first five years shape your child’s development and learning for life. That’s why our daily programs are thoughtfully designed for intellectual, emotional, social and physical wellbeing and development. Curiosity, creativity and exploration are encouraged in a safe and supportive environment.
This strong foundation helps foster a lifelong love of learning.

What the parents say
Our son has been attending Mother Duck since he was 13 months old and we couldn't be happier with the support we have received from the staff, particularly with preparing him for school.
The Mann family
Mother Duck is everything we wanted in a daycare centre. If they can't be at home, I wouldn't want them to be anywhere else.
The Naughton family
Our daughter attended Mother Duck for three years and absolutely loved it there. She has made some lifelong friends and we really felt part of a community. The staff are lovely and genuinely care about our children. Our son recently started and it’s been a joy to see how much fun he is having. We feel it is a wonderful social and supportive environment, perfect for our needs.
The Bowie family
An outstanding centre.
The Alves Poland family
Mother Duck Enoggera is a wonderful community that our family loves being a part of and has been now for 5 years. The educators in each studio are so attentive to our children and their needs. They arrive and leave with smiles on their faces, which makes us feel confident and safe in our choice of child care provider.

About the curriculum
About the curriculum
6 weeks - 2.5 years
Children in the Juniors studio are developing their skills in confidence and independence, within a safe and secure environment. A consistent routine and familiar educators build a sense of security, so your child can confidently engage in learning.
Socialisation will be gently encouraged and guided to help friendships and empathy form. Your child’s growing independence is supported by caring educators who will help them take the first steps in toilet training. Educators will communicate openly with parents through conversation, as well as a daily record of your child’s eating, sleeping and toileting.
The play-based educational program is tailored to each child’s learning needs and interests. Emerging intellectual, social, emotional, physical and language skills are built on and extended.
2.5 years - 5 years
The state government funded kindergarten is led by university qualified teachers, with a focus on building the children’s capacity for responsibility and accountability for their own learning.
With the longer hours of a child care centre, the kindergarten children have an extended opportunity to access the curriculum, giving the children scope to work on long term projects of inquiry in order to empower them as 21st century thinkers and communicators.
The key for the children is to prepare them for the transition to formal education. The children make their learning visible through words, drawing, numbers, dance, painting, clay, music, movement, loose parts, transformative play and more.

At Mother Duck Enoggera, the focus of the educators is on reflective practice to ensure they understand all they can about children and their development; finding new and innovative ways to solve problems, engage in challenging tasks, and using information technology and print-based texts to find things out; giving children the gift of time to listen to their ideas and incorporate these into the curriculum; sustainable practices to teach the children how to be a valuable member of society; and teaching children skills beyond academics such as compassion, collaboration, empathy, kindness, grace and honesty.
The centre prides itself on the passionate long-term educators caring for the children. They continually offer professional development for the team and provide above-award remuneration. Some of the educators have been at the centre for over nine years.
As the Mother Duck Enoggera franchisee, I feel so lucky to work alongside kind families and their children, and my highly experienced and qualified educators every day. I feel proud of the safe, educational and happy environment that we have created here at Mother Duck Enoggera and love that I get to spend my days here.

Miss Olivia - Educator
I love to work at Mother Duck because I feel supported, celebrated, and valued every day. I am encouraged and supported to further and deepen my knowledge of child development in a team environment.
Miss Diana - Educator
Within my role as Educational Leader, I am privileged to witness my colleagues constantly re-ignite their passions for early childhood education as we research child development together. I believe the way in which we approach our documentation at Mother Duck Enoggera directly results in our team working so positively together, and we are able to learn alongside children each day.

Mother Duck Enoggera has been amazing, currently our now 13 month old daughter has been there for 3 months. The educators in all rooms are welcoming and caring. They all know my daughter’s name and she gets excited when she sees them. The chef on site makes delicious and a large variety of food. A special mention to Audrey in the Infant studio where my daughter currently is. She is kind, patient and always willing to try implement what routine we have at home. Read more

We sent our 4-year-old mid-year to Mother Duck and I thought I'd share this review for parents who might be sending their children during the year (not the start), to help in the decision-making process. Our 4 year old absolutely loved his last preschool in Melbourne and was so excited to start at Mother Duck Enoggera. But within weeks he didn't want to go there and complained it was boring and the big kids wouldn't play with him. I didn't want to pull him out (another change) as it was only a few months until the end of the year so we persisted but always picked him up early. What I found during this time was: The centre encourages kids to resolve conflict themselves - a few times I heard a couple of older boys say my little boy couldn't play with them / the building blocks, on consecutive days, in front of the teacher who didn't bat an eye. Another day a boy called my boy a p*nis head meanly and pulled faces. I brought I these things up later with the manager of the centre saying it's unkind, and the teachers need to teach the kids good values, and she agreed and said she'd speak to the teacher about it. When I'd walk in the centre, my little boy would grip my hand and in the end, started crying. He never did this before and went to kinder very happily for years, (not just in Melbourne, but also in Spain), and I found it quite distressing to see such a change. The children don't greet each other, at the other preschool they would sing out hello and goodbye happily. The teachers sometimes greet you. So for a kid that is unsure, you don't feel that welcome when you start the day and there’s a weird vibe and culture sometimes. They don't have many toys, and it was only when my little boy mentioned it, they bought a few more (not many and very basic toys which many quickly broke). At the last kinder they bought new toys every couple of weeks (from second-hand shops even, and learning / interactive toys), so the kids could interact with new things. They don't go out for excursions. Yes, some of the things they do are nice, but they do the same thing every day. Maybe if your child only goes a couple of days a week this is ok. Again at the old kinder, they did excursions eg. bush kinder, to the post office, retirement villages etc which the kids loved. The centre is aesthetically nice, and the girls are mostly helpful and cheerful when you speak to them, but I'm not sure if there are just too many kids, and it's hard for the staff to stay close to what is happening and look out for kids that might need a bit more care. They also put on a nice end of year night, showcasing the kid's work. The soccer guy on Friday too was a hit. The music man wasn't. Overall I had bittersweet feelings about this place, and the last week, my little boy preferred to stay home while I worked a couple of days, rather than go to preschool. Read more
