Curriculum and programs
Curriculum and programs
The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.
As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.
The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.
Play is the order of the day of Goodstart Early Learning and the programs at the centre are grounded in a play-based approach. The educators embed teaching and learning into play experiences, helping the children to make sense of the world around them. This is how the children learn about how things work and develop important foundational relationships and skills.
The primarily child-directed, play-based curriculum ensures that the children are engaged in their learning. They are encouraged to take the lead, developing their negotiation, risk taking, problem solving and social skills. The educators observe the children and help to challenge them by extending their learning and interests.
The educators recognise that every child is unique and that they bring their own needs, interests and strengths with them each day. The program is designed to be flexible to cater to these differing needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive at Goodstart.
Parent communication and involvement
Parent communication and involvement
Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.
The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.
The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.

Gabriel Zalewski
My name is Gabriel Zalewski (Gabe) and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Early Learning Preston, Regent Street
I began my journey in the childcare industry back in 2016 with my diploma in early childhood education and care. I have been working for Goodstart since the beginning of 2020 and have been fortunate enough to learn and grow into the Centre Director role which I have been in since the beginning of 2021.
I enjoy leading a team of passionate and long-standing educators in continuing to create a safe, friendly and family-orientated environment for all families and children in the centre.
I believe my calm and friendly nature enables me to be confidently approached by all educators, families and children of which allows me to passionately teach, help and coach whenever I am needed.
I look forward to working and growing with all the children and families here at Regent Street.

Let's put this in simple terms; Regent St are the best in the game! From the long-standing educators to the amazing reliable office staff/ management, oh and how can I forget the centres chef who seems to whip up magic food that my kids wouldn't touch at home but go in for seconds at daycare....... I've had 4 kids go through Regent St GS and in that time experienced nearly all the educators who are just amazing and so nurturing. One of my children has special needs and required that extra help, whilst a little more challenging for the educators I never felt like they couldn't handle it or that he was being missed or left behind in fact, quite the opposite. Educators and staff go above and beyond and ensure parents like me are supported, listened to and most importantly, our kids are kept safe (no matter how difficult some may be to handle ). Don't hesitate to trust the team at Regent St. Read more

Seems they have the bad ones removed because we had an absolutely horrible experience. Our child was too afraid to return because he was being stood over by 3 grown adults and yelled at. My partner had just returned home from dropping him off and they called asking her to pick him up because he threw something over the fence. He was 3 years old for gods sake!! We could see in his face he was too scared to go back and now they are trying to get us to pay them for the time he didn't attend because he didn't want to go. He has never complained about going to child care until we started him here but we could see the sadness and fear in his eyes. Disgusting and totally unacceptable. Not every child is easy and our son could be a bit of handful but they are supposed to be trained for this kind of situation and the way they handled it was extremely unprofessional. Shame on the women that treated our son that way!!! Read more
