Kookaburra Kindergarten Chatswood
Kookaburra Kindergarten Chatswood Centre overview
Kookaburra Kindergarten Chatswood is a stand-alone, boutique service established 32 years ago by an Early Childhood Teacher who is passionately involved in the day-to-day operations of the service.
Our Early Education Centre is set in a pre-federation residence that has been recently renovated to provide a spacious and homely environment with state-of-the-art facilities. Outside, the children have an enourmous playground area that is set amongst mature gum trees where children can play and learn in the natural Australian environment.
We have four classrooms dedicated to providing age appropriate educational programs for our Joey's (6 month - 2 year olds), Wombats (2 - 3 year olds), Koalas (3 - 4 year olds) and our Possums Preschool children (4 - 6 year olds).
We have a team of long-serving educators that strive to provide exciting development and educational opportunities for the children to experience. We offer frequent incursions, community social events, parent information evenings and ongoing support and advice.
Our number one priority is providing a caring and nurturing environment that supports children in their early education and development. We seek to maintain a home away from home feeling so that our children come to Kindy each day knowing that they will feel secure in their surroundings.

Our two year old attends 3 days a week and we couldn't be happier with the centre. The staff are the most wonderful, dedicated people who have a genuine care for all the kids that attend. The management is fantastic, never too busy to help and answer questions and extremely well educated in the Early Childhood field. Thank you Kookaburra Kindergarten!
Nicky
My two yr old daughter attends here and she loves it. Great facilities, warm, friendly staff and lots of fun activities and programs for the kids.

My son has attended Kookaburra Kindergarten since he was 18 months. He is so happy and settled because of the amazing staff who are so kind and caring. In addition, their education program is top notch, with noticeable results in development. If you are looking for a centre that is caring, but also helps creates independent and confident children, Kookaburra Kindergarten is the place for you.
Roxanne
My 2 year old son has been attending Kookaburra for over a year and he absolutely loves his teachers and friends there - his confidence has really built since starting daycare. What is most important to us is that the staff must enjoy working at this centre as his teachers have been there for so many years. They are so caring and involved my sons development as well as value feedback from the parents. We are pregnant with #2 and have already put her name down for 2020.
Christine
We moved our daughter here after finding another place (franchise) disengaging, impersonal and stressful atmosphere. Within a week of starting, we knew all the staff, my daughter was looking forward to going to kindy and playing in the amazing outdoor area and she had a buddy. This place has been outstanding compared to what we left.

Meet the team
Meet the team
Kookaburra Kindergarten’s team of highly trained and experienced educators sets it apart from other services. An exceptional number of bachelor qualified Early Childhood Teachers work together to develop and deliver sophisticated educational programs that engage children at their appropriate developmental stages.
Kookaburra Kindergarten retains a dedicated team of permanent, long-serving educators. This enables children and their families to develop positive, meaningful relationships with their educators over time and parents can be assured their children will be surrounded by familiar faces each day. Each educator brings a passion for early childhood education and providing the children with exciting developmental and educational opportunities.
Accomplished Early Childhood Teacher, Joy Kelly, is the owner and approved provider of Kookaburra Kindergarten Chatswood and Joy, along with her husband Geoff, first opened its doors in 1990.
Joy began her career working as a classroom teacher in NSW and ACT primary schools where she gained a wealth of experience teaching children with learning difficulties in remedial classes and progressing to a demonstration teacher, guiding other educators.
After 10 years educating primary aged children, Joy was ready for her next adventure and opened her own Early Childhood Education Centre. Over the last 31 years, Joy has worked as the Director and pre-school teacher and to this day is a hands-on leader in all aspects of the centre’s operations.
You’ll often find her spending time in the classroom, deeply engaged with the children, consulting with families who need support, mentoring the teachers, and working closely with the Director and Educational Leader on the curriculum and programming.
After 45 years in the profession, Joy lives and breathes early childhood education and her sincere love of children, and passion for education is a driving force of the centre.
Centre philosophy
Centre philosophy
Children are born with an innate drive to explore the world around them, and it is our privilege to enrich that journey.
We proudly believe in the importance of inclusion and belonging and therefore cater to every child as an individual, with respect to all cultures, religions, and family backgrounds as well as the abilities, needs and preferences of each individual.
At the core of our philosophy is the importance of providing a safe and caring environment for your child. When children feel comfortable and secure in their surroundings, they are free to explore and build their confidence.
We work in collaboration with parents to nurture each child’s curiosity and provide stimulating learning experiences to meet their insatiable desire for knowledge.

We have the pleasure of sending our daughter to Kookaburra Childcare for over a year now, and we couldn't be happier with the care she receives. The teachers are incredibly kind, positive, and attentive, providing both physical and emotional support that has helped our daughter thrive. It's clear that they truly care about each child's well-being. One of the things we love most is how the teachers engage the children in fun and creative activities like handcrafts. Our daughter brings home beautiful pieces of artwork that are not only adorable but also a reflection of the nurturing environment at Kookaburra. It’s such a lovely way to see her growth and creativity! The communication with parents is also excellent. We always feel well-informed and involved in our daughter’s learning and development, and the staff is always open to any questions or concerns we might have. Special thanks to Jane, Georgia, Cathy, Tina and every one else! Overall, we’re so grateful for the positive impact Kookaburra Childcare has had on our daughter’s early years. The combination of warm, caring staff and enriching activities makes it a wonderful place for young children to learn, grow, and feel loved! Read more

I can not say thank you enough to Kookaburra Kindergarten, Chatswood, my child would not be as confident as she is now if we did not choose this lovely, friendly, inclusive, home-felt environment. When first started at Kookaburra, my kid could not speak fluent English, but not once did she complain about not being welcomed and supported, over the course of her experience there, she developed confidence, independent thinking skills and strong inter-personal skills, she now comfortably and very confidently communicates and engages with the children and adults around her. If you want a friendly, inclusive (both for kids and parents), and supporting Kindergarten, I would deficiently recommend KOOKABURRA KINDERGARTEN, CHATSWOOD. Read more
