About the Curriculum
About the Curriculum
At Kids ELC Goodna Smiths Road, our play-based and inquiry-led curriculum is thoughtfully designed and delivered by experienced and qualified educators who understand how young children learn and thrive. Our program is inspired by Reggio Emilia practices and shaped by each child’s interests, strengths, culture and capabilities.
We believe learning is most meaningful when it happens in partnership. Our educators work closely with children and families to create engaging learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and a love of discovery.
Our curriculum is guided by respected national and international frameworks including the Early Years Learning Framework, Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines, My Time Our Place, the National Quality Framework, the Early Childhood Code of Ethics and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. These foundations help us nurture a learning environment that is inclusive, holistic and respectful of every child’s potential.
At Goodna Smiths Road, learning is grounded in the power of play. Through hands-on and open-ended experiences, children grow across all areas of development including social, emotional, physical, thinking and creative. Educators support each child’s wellbeing, sense of agency and identity by responding to their individual backgrounds, cultures and ways of learning.
Centre philosophy
Centre philosophy
At Kids ELC Goodna Smiths Road, we follow a Reggio Emilia-inspired approach to early learning. We see children as capable and full of curiosity. Learning is shaped by their interests, questions and relationships. Educators support this by guiding and learning alongside the children. Through play and hands-on experiences, children explore, discover and grow at their own pace.
We believe the environment is a key part of learning. Our spaces are calm, beautiful and thoughtfully set up to invite creativity and independence. Children are encouraged to express their ideas in many ways, such as through art, music, movement, storytelling and imaginative play. These experiences help them connect with others and share how they see the world.
Relationships are at the heart of our approach. We know that children learn best when they feel safe and supported. They grow through their connections with educators, other children, their families and the natural world. Our educators carefully observe and listen to children, helping to make learning meaningful. By working closely with families, we create a caring and respectful space where every child feels confident to explore, ask questions and enjoy learning.

Room staff are the most amazing people who I adore but since corporate have been more involved the centre has gone down hill... Room staff are the most amazing people who I adore but since corporate have been more involved the centre has gone down hill so quickly. There is no life in the foyer, the corporate staff who are currently around the centre ignore you as you enter or exit the centre and the centre feel so unwelcoming. The clothes swap has been replaced by a donation bin and the community pantry is gone. You can tell the staff are so deflated and they’re the only good thing left about the centre. At this rate we won’t be enrolling my son for next year. Room staff are 5/5, corporate staff are 0/5. Read more
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We really appreciate your kind words about our studio team members – they are such an important part of the centre, and we’re so proud of the care they provide. We want to reassure you that we are a family-run business, not a corporate entity, and we value the strong sense of community within our centre. We’re sorry if recent changes have affected the welcoming atmosphere. The community pantry has not been removed but has been moved to the hallway near the toilet area. The donation bin has been a part of our centre for several years, and we’re glad to offer it as a way for families to support those in need. We understand the centre may feel a bit different right now as we’ve been repainting, which has required us to temporarily remove some displays. We are working to refresh and bring everything back to make the foyer feel lively again. We’d love to speak with you more about your concerns, and we’re committed to ensuring you and your family feel welcome here. Please feel free to reach out to us directly so we can address any other concerns you may have at 07 3333 1818.
