Our oldest daughter attended when she was 3.5 years and she was outspoken so her experience there was not bad although towards the end she wasn’t keen to go anymore as she said nobody really cares or pay attention. However our son wasn’t as keen, we always wondered why then but he wasn’t as verbal. Unfortunately he was injured by other kids multiple times, coming home with scratches, bite marks, bleeding wound, etc we have attempted to discuss this few times with the manager to no avail. It felt like the blame was placed on the victim child. And everything, according to them, is developmental, which it comes to a point where we felt our child was traumatised by the whole bullying and injuries (the educators/ manager do not like us using the word bullying because according to them, they were too young to bully and again it is developmental). Once we were told by the manager that he needs to stand up for himself. Our son was barely 3 years old and has speech delay, how was he supposed to stand up for himself? We recommended so many people to go there because we thought the center was decent. Looking back, it was one of our biggest regret as parent. We pulled him out eventually despite not having another place to go etc as nothing was changed and our concern fell on deaf ears. When we left, we weren’t even asked why etc for any feedback which was sad. We also had some issues with the accounts and was paying full price due to some ccs issues and no warning or query was informed until we realised by then it was too late (we had experiences with a different provider and they actually made effort to alert us when the same thing happened so we were able to rectify early). Anyway the physical trauma caused really affected him. I felt that the center is probably okay for those who can speak up and stand up for themselves but otherwise for children who needed more support or more observation or unable to speak up from themselves would be disadvantaged because even the management at that time couldn’t be bothered. And the turnover of the child care employees were abhorrent at that time, I hope that’s improved now. When we started the manager was amazing and strict with these sort of things but she left to join the company leadership team which was a shame and the managers who took over were just less caring and less effective. It was a sad experience because when we started it was really good then it just went downhill thereafter. I hope the headquarters are aware of this and ensure any reports of child being injured due to incidents in the center can be managed with much more sensitivity and genuine effort. It is very disheartening to pay such high fees and to have the child coming home with injuries inflicted by another child and being told it’s normal behaviour and that the other victim child needs to stand up for himself.
