Kindergarten Program

Our dedicated and qualified teachers and educators nurture healthy minds and bodies, celebrating each child’s individual strengths to support their participation and growth towards their full potential. We co-design vibrant learning communities with children, families, and communities, ensuring your C&K centre is a place where your child feels safe, makes friends, and belongs.

Our indoor and outdoor spaces ignite imaginations and foster curiosity, allowing children to explore, experiment, play, and learn. Educators are open to your child’s ideas and will guide their social and emotional growth. Your child will have opportunities to explore, solve problems, develop friendships, use their creativity, and play. We also prepare children for the transition to school and a lifelong love of learning.

All C&K community kindergartens and childcare centres deliver a government-approved kindergarten program.

Infant and Toddler Approach

C&K has developed a specialized infant and toddler approach, guiding the care and education of our youngest learners. Our warm and professional educators "slow down" to be in the moment with your child as they explore the world. We focus on developing deep, trusting relationships with each baby and toddler, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and secure through consistent routines and rituals.

Babies and toddlers are naturally curious about the world, and we delight in sharing their sense of wonder.

Play-Based Learning at C&K

Play-based learning at C&K reflects the children, educators, families, and communities at each centre. Our teachers and educators enrich and extend children’s play in meaningful ways. For example, if a child is playing in the sandpit, an educator might encourage them to draw maps in the sand or measure water levels, supporting literacy and numeracy development.

Programs at C&K centres may also include:

Nature Play: Time to play freely outdoors, connect with nature, and use natural materials.

Risky Play: Safe exploration of questions like "Can this branch take my weight?" under expert supervision.

STEM: Inquiry-based experiences incorporating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Literacy and Language: Talking, reading, conversing, drawing, and playing with open-ended materials.

The Arts: Exploring creativity through visual arts, drama, music, movement, and a variety of materials.

First Nations Peoples' Histories and Perspectives: Learning about and respecting the connections to land, sea, and sky in all our programs.
