Play is the order of the day of Goodstart Early Learning and the programs at the centre are grounded in a play-based approach. The educators embed teaching and learning into play experiences, helping the children to make sense of the world around them. This is how the children learn about how things work and develop important foundational relationships and skills. 

The primarily child-directed, play-based curriculum ensures that the children are engaged in their learning. They are encouraged to take the lead, developing their negotiation, risk taking, problem solving and social skills. The educators observe the children and help to challenge them by extending their learning and interests.

The educators recognise that every child is unique and that they bring their own needs, interests and strengths with them each day. The program is designed to be flexible to cater to these differing needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive at Goodstart.

Kelly Mills

Hi there! My name is Kelly and I am the Centre Manager at Goodstart Boronia, Iris Crescent.

I have been in the early learning and child care sectors since 1990, and I hold an Advanced Diploma of Early Childhood Education and a Graduate Certificate in Child and Adolescent health. I started my role as Centre Manager in 2017.

Throughout my career I have worked in all levels of early learning; with each role came a new level of experience and knowledge.

I am passionate about supporting families within our community and providing an inclusive environment for all. I firmly believe that the first five years are the most important and can make a great difference in children’s lives. My team and I pride ourselves on creating an inviting and stimulating environment at the centre. We are committed to providing each child with the best possible start in life.

On a daily basis, I work hard to connect with our local community and local services to strengthen these relationships for our families. All children are entitled to a high-quality education, to feel valued and respected. Every child has a voice – a voice that should be heard, and we have a responsibility to make sure our children have access to the highest quality care.

It's a passion I share with the team I am fortunate to work with. With years of experience and excellent qualifications, this is a team of dedicated and committed professionals who have a calling for early learning and supporting your child to have the best possible start in life.
