Waldorf Little Learners
Waldorf Little Learners Centre overview
Welcome to Waldorf Little Learners, Ningi
Our wonderful early learning childcare is located in the heart of Ningi in the Moreton Bay Region of Queensland, Australia. We work alongside local families, schools and our community to ensure that children have a holistic Steiner-inspired curriculum focused on experiential education and imaginative play.
We offer early education and care to children from 0 - 6 years. We celebrate the simplicity of childhood through a holistic and nurturing approach that creates confident and capable learners.
Children enjoy an unhurried childhood.
When you visit us and watch the children at play... You will see children who delight in being allowed to live in the moment, who are free to explore nature and to go where their wide-eyed sense of wonder and imagination takes them.
In our fast paced world, where pushing children to “hurry up or fall behind” has become the norm, our service takes the point of view that childhood is something to be savoured. By being free to develop according to their own natural rhythms, Waldorf-educated children enjoy full and rich childhoods, gaining the experiences they need to become healthy, self-actualised individuals.
Our early childhood teachers nurture each child’s flowering, providing gentle, yet sensory rich environments and play-based activities that encourage the young child to investigate the natural world, explore social relationships, and expand imaginative capacities. These activities lay crucial foundations for a life time love of learning.

Our Philosophy
Children are naturally curious about the world around them. At Waldorf Little Learners, we understand the powerful impact that play has on a child’s cognitive, physical, social and emotional development.
We place great emphasis on providing opportunities for our little ones to explore, experiment, imagine and discover in a natural and enriching environment so that our children can grow to become empathetic, creative, and capable individuals with an appetite for lifelong learning.
Our Environment
We believe in providing a natural environment. Our centre provides natural and creative spaces to spark curiosity. Our large open outdoor spaces provide opportunities for our children to run, explore, adventure, climb, and imagine, and cultivates a strong appreciation for our natural environment. Our indoor spaces provide opportunities for creative, self-directed play to unlock initiative, flexibility and form the basis for innovative thought in adult life.We are committed to ensuring our natural world is supported with non-toxic materials, hand soaps and cleaning products to create a hygienic space that also protects the health and wellbeing of our children. Our centre is eco-friendly and deeply passionate about providing materials that are made from nature such as wood, paper, leaves, flowers, rocks, and felt, or otherwise sourced through recycled or second-hand means to minimise our impact on the Earth.
Our Approach
At Waldorf Little Learners, we are passionate and dedicated to ensuring your children are well supported and nurtured throughout their early years. We adopt a contemporary approach to a Waldorf-inspired education, recognised for providing a sound and practical basis for working with children, enabling them to find their creativity and to become free individuals who can think for themselves, make their own judgements, and find their own purpose and direction in life. We take great care in planning and setting up our environments in each room to ensure that your children’s physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs are considered.
About the Curriculum
About the Curriculum
Curriculum
At Waldorf Little Learners, we embrace a holistic approach to learning, encompassing “learn through play” concepts of a Waldorf-inspired education.
We learn about the world by imitating what we see, and we process though play.Growth and development is explored through creative and self-directed play in a calm, predictable, familiar and unhurried environment. We focus on developing the ability to follow a decision or action to completion, empowering children to problem solve and think critically in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Creative outdoor play is greatly encouraged because of its importance to sensory and motor stimulation, and enables children to learn from the natural world through simple resources and materials.
Rhythm & Routine
Children thrive off routine, it creates an environment of calm and ease, and provides feelings of security. We value the importance of rhythm through a cyclical schedule of daily, weekly and yearly activities.
Our days are centred around art, craft, music, dance, circle time, storytelling, gardening, and drama, and our weekly rhythm occurs in a rotation between yoga class, drawing group, bread making, and painting class.
Programs
Programs
We have crafted a dedicated warm and nurturing space for your precious baby to grow and thrive.
Our Nursery room fosters holistic development, nurturing babies as whole individuals. We cultivate a natural and curious environment for your little one to learn about their world, imitating what they see, and processing though play.
We provide rhythm and sensory experiences while nurturing creativity and imagination as they develop their first sounds, movements and thinking. We ensure that we are attentive to your babies cues and focus on creating positive, nurturing relationships and secure attachments to instil a feeling of safety.
Our educators strive to give your baby all the love and care they need while away from their primary home.
Our Toddler room educators know how vital the first years of your little one’s life are, which is why we endeavour to meet their individual needs.
We provide predictable rhythms throughout the day, week and year that provide a deep sense of security, calm and ease. In our open indoor/outdoor toddler space, your child can explore the natural environments while they continue to develop through free play, movement, and engagement with natural materials.
We facilitate self-directed open-ended play and provide opportunities for children to solve problems, use their imagination and develop creative play essential for critical thinking and self-actualisation in adulthood.
We also focus on storytelling through rhymes and poems to assist in linguistic development, using actions and body movement to build memory.
Our Pre-Kindy environments promote an unhurried childhood, where your child can explore between our natural indoor and outdoor environments. Utilising rhythms that create a safe place for children to further develop their thinking and a greater understanding of time and space.
The curriculum for our Pre-Kindergarten children is underpinned by the Early Years Learning Framework and supports the premise of self-directed free play, craft, and imitation of what is heard, felt and experienced, as the major stimulus for development and learning. Here, we continue to focus on growth and development through imaginative expression and open-ended free play in a strong and holistic way.
The curriculum includes art, craft, music, dance, storytelling, gardening and drama with a focus on a home-like environment where your child can develop their self-help skills.
The curriculum for our Kindergarten children is underpinned by the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and the Early Years Learning Framework and supports the premise of self-directed free play.
Our teachers and educators utilise repetitive patterns and rhythms, alternating between child-led and teacher-led activities. Here, we continue to focus on developing critical thinking through craft and open-ended free play in a strong and holistic way.
The curriculum includes art, craft, circle time, music, dance, storytelling, gardening, drama, cooking and other home-like domestic activities while encouraging self-help skills and social responsibility. Everything is presented to children in a creative way to assist in the connection of their inner self. Craft develops the willpower to start something and have the determination to finish it. Story is used to develop listening, comprehension, and imagination.
Outdoor play also underpins our values because of its importance to sensory and motor stimulation, and the beauty of nature to enhance the child’s imagination.
